Quickshifters are still manual, they just cut the ignition for a fraction of a second so you don't have to cut the throttle when you shift. They're really only handy for track and very spirited riding.
The really fancy new ones, have an auto blipper, which squirts some gas in to unload the transmission so you can go clutchless down the box as well as up. I've never tried one of those but they sound fun!
