I didn't solder anything. My setup is SP dynamo + Supernova lights.

That sinewave is lush. Considering one for my Mountain Bike. Got a Luxos on the tourer but (given the negative comments about water) worried it won't be durable enough off road.

About to try and fit two sets of the supernova connectors to my headlight cable tonight to create a removable section of wire that will allow easier moving of the headlight between a fork crown mount and bar mount (when using front bags) without a load of excess cable to be mindful of. The sinewave website has instructions for soldering the connections whilst the instructions that come with the connectors suggest just crimping does anyone have any experience/anecdotal tips either way?

I did exactly this with a big front rack vs crown. Works fine, but I would recommend soldering, as crimping the golden banana/bullet connectors always seemed to weaken the wire and end up breaking off soon after. And once crimped they can't be used again, so I had to buy a load more from eBay. Thanks fully a lot cheaper than Supernova's own replacements. Get some heatshrink too and it should be waterproof.

Cool thanks! Yeh I was leaning towards the soldering option but I haven'y done any since secondary school so might have a bit of a practice first. I actually got the supernova connectors on sale so they were pretty cheap and they come with pre cut heat shrink bits as well. Gonna try out the local hack/makers space to see if they have the tools to borrow!

I have one on my Chameleon, it works great for trails at night, haven’t done more then double track but it provides enough light. Running it to a battery pack and the battery pack back to the light helps a lot when you hit those low speed climbs.

I've got a light and a bike with cantilevers. It looks like the mount will interfere slightly with the brake cable. Will I die?
Excuse the bodging so far

Bolt it on and find out if it clears!

bike with cantilevers ... Will I die?
Yes, the first time you try to emergency brake before traffic, cliff, obstacle, spike pit, etc.
To be less of a knobhead, maybe you could mount it on the canti post itself? Might need a washer and longer bolt but it'd be pretty neat.

I don't think that'd work. I'd lose quote a bit of light. I think I'll pack out the current bolt with some washers so it should clear the cable.
Nice idea though

V-brakes? They are a) vastly superior, b) cheap, c) a solution to your straddle cable issue.

get the jtek mount

Any suggestions on where to get a set of 29er wheels built with a dyno hub?

B&M make dynamo mounts for the bars and forks, pretty cheap on bike-discount.

The Brompton headlight bracket might help you squeeze it under the straddle cable.

What about a threaded bar joiner to space it out forward a bit. Would probably warrant a bit of thread lock so it doesn't rattle loose.

Seabass, Parts & Labour, SBC deal with offroad/touring builds a fair bit (assuming offroad since you said "29er").

Yeah, offroad is the plan.

Thanks for all the ideas. I've gone for this in the end
It should got nicely and raise the light so I don't get any shadows.
I'll report back once I've fitted it

What size spade connectors do I need for my B&M Luxos U? Time to refresh the wiring.
-
• #2275
2.8mm ones are the standard for B&M
Cheers! I still don't know what I'm doing. Might hand it over to someone that knows their way around a soldering iron.
