Just back from Japan... So much nice stuff. Amazing denim, beautiful vintage stuff and military repros that are great. Got my self a pair of Studio d'artisan chinos in olive green. They just do so much good mens wear. Amazing place

And there's a very good reason, too! If you wanna get real detailed about the history, this is a great read:

This sounds really interesting, ordered. Cheers!

Ta looks good I have read magazine bits and stuff online but that looks a good read. The attention to detail on some of the clothing is brilliant, I esp love having a dig at second hand places there just isn't that option here in HK. Thanks for the info. 👍

Yeah, I still haven't managed to get to Japan due to life stuff and it kills me inside.
I am heading to Los Angeles next weekend though and am attending Rose Bowl Flea Market for the second time - literally some of the best vintage I've ever seen. The last time I went, I made the mistake of turning up at 9.30 and a lot of the good stuff was gone. Loads of guys over from Japan with huge duffel suitcases full of stuff by the time I got there.
Have booked early bird tickets this time to get in at 7.
There's also Mister Freedom, where, along with their fantastic new stuff, there's a killer collection of vintage, too. Very excited to have a dig at both locations.
I am looking for a non-repro of one of these WWII US Army Denim pullovers but finding one is highly unlikely... and sure to be big bucks.. I've only ever seen them in Japan and not for sale. Buzz Rickson's and Real McCoys have both made repro's in recent years and I'd settle for one of those but I can't find one of them either!
As seen here on Mister Freedom owner's blog, no less:

Copped some Lee 101 Riders in TK Maxx Brixton yesterday for £50. Like the 101Z but with a lower rise and a nice taper. They had a few sizes.

Nice. I had three pairs of the 101B cinchback ones from there a few years ago.

I too need to visit the Rose Bowl flea at some point in my life. Vintage shopping out in Japan is insane but it made me realise that the reason it's fairly poor everywhere else is because everything ends up in Japan. I could have bought so much North American military and workwear stuff out there which is funny as I always thought I'd be able to do that in Toronto before I moved here.

It’s great. However I ended up only buying Yuketen and Monitaly stuff due to their sample sale. No vintage...
-
• #3420
Yeah, your Yuketen haul was great.
In terms of denim, my regular wears right now are a pair of charity shop find 501 Big E's and (probably shouldn't be admitted in this thread) a couple of pairs of Uniqlos stretch "selvedge".
I have a 10+ year old pair of Edwin 71's that I've repaired numerous times and a pair of hardly worn Naked & Famous Left Hand Twill weird guys. Both of which I'm currently too chunky to fit into.

Have you have them darned? Looking for local repairman?
-
• #3422
I tend to do them myself when I can be bothered. Usually patch them and then go over them with my sewing machine. Do you do repairs?

BITD one of my vintage dealer mates was in Canada twice a year buying stock, the USA had long since run out of the good stuff... He always came back with great things... This was probably twenty years ago tho'...
I remember with fondness the deadstock half selvage Lee 101z he came back with on one trip... I wanted them so badly, only £200 at the time and the wrong size, obvs...
