because it takes a long time to drink the critical amount of bathwater/gamer girl pee.

Needs old school mtb bar ends on there too. And tri bars as well for that matter...

New Standert looks good. Clearance for 700x38 and roadie geo. Price about inline with Fairlight/Mason offerings.

Geometry looks pretty aggressive for this sort of thing. It's pretty much the same as my Ritchey Road Logic in the largest size. Steep seat and head angles, long top tube. Kinda think the Fairlight seems more sensible tho' this does look nice.

Nice
Maybe more monstercx than gravel

Looks like something you'd ride, size also.
Guy says it takes a 27.5×2.6?! I had no idea it went quite that big. It's a Kona Sutra

Tbh I think it's in the wrong thread, as nice as it is. Hopefully we're looking at what will be the new normal in road bikes.

38mm tyres not big enough for gravel anymore? Seriously?
-
• #9313
Perfect size imo, though I imagine it'll fit 650b hoops as well.
-
• #9314
Depends what you mean by 'gravel'. IME most of UK off-road rides usually involve some amount of trails where that's not an appropriate tyre size. But then again usually also sections where it's entirely excessive

It's more the limited choices really, like having an MTB with 1.95 tyres and expect it to do everything perfectly well.

This is the issue. I'd rather ride a 'road bike' on gravel than a gravel bike on the road.

Of course they are, just everything else about that bike screams road bike to me.
Pidgeon-holing bikes which kinda cross boundaries is stupid in any case and this bike would be plenty capable on a lot of towpaths and fire-roads but the point I was trying to make was more that I hope that this kind of more versatile road bike is the new normal - that a specific gravel bike is a bit less neccessary.

I agree - after some optimistic (at best) routing on Saturday we established that my mates brand new Bianchi aero wotsit with discs is definitely gravel / single track capable.
As an aside, 'touring mode' on Komoot is a lot of fun.

honestly you can ride almost anything with 28s and confidence.
I like the look of that Standert for a winter bike. 35c and guards and it'll be well fun
-
• #9320
You can. Easy to forget that not long ago it could be dicey to try and squeeze a 28 into your road bike

Was wondering where the shifters were then found the thread on Reddit. eTap & blips, pretty neat idea.

Then stick some 33mm on it and race 'cross.
Does that fork take guards? Seems like a missed opportunity if not.

they do indeed.

Almost.
This thread is literally for the almost part.

Standert balance bikes are probably the coolest.
