Tape or shrink wrap wouldn't provide that much physical protection to the components, particularly the USB port and output cable. If you were very careful and delicate with it, and it never got wet, you wouldn't need to pot it in epoxy. However...

Pot it into the plastic case it came out of.
-
• #3754
I was trying to make it smaller. If it's potted in the same case it's not going to be much smaller. Ok, maybe do it in half the case and it's 50% skinnier - that's decent.
If I fix the cable outer to the PCB somehow so it can't be yanked out (the USB is already fixed) then it should be strong enough, then I just cover it with shrink.

Have you got a hot glue gun? Just dumping a whole lot of that on the components would be an alternative to potting in epoxy. Messier and less protection, but better than nothing.
-
• #3756
Nah, only a silicon/filler gun.

Anyone got a price point for a 9070 disc gearset?

MechaMorgan
I had to swap out a rear derailleur that stopped shifting early in my eTap riding. SRAM sent me a new one next day. Just stopped moving, despite the LED suggesting it was registering shifts from the shifters
glad it's not just me... i've managed 104 miles on my new etap setup, thought i was all fancy dan, changing gears willy nilly, with no cables in sight... then bosh... dead rear derailluer...
not best pleased, thank god i have warranty!

Sram red Etap.
Setting up the rear mech from scratch.
Align lowest and highest gears with jockey wheel. Set limit screws.
Then set Bscrew.
Can you micro shift adjust in every position, uniquely?
Shift 11 cog to 12 seems extremely short. -
• #3762
Yes, each cog can be aligned individually via a micro adjust...
Also, set the B tension once the chain is in
-
• #3763
Ok thanks. Without the chain in should the jockey wheel align with each cog or just top and bottom ones as per set up.
-
• #3764
I just did the top and bottom, then fine tuned once the chain was on 👍🏻
-
• #3765
Nervous to put chain on as seems 12-11 is very short, then it doesn’t move back with the first shift and seems to skip 12 to 13
-
• #3766
Any update... did you sort it?
-
• #3767
Well I’m tuning it as we speak with the chain on.
I have however sheered the limit screw in the front mech!! Need it for tomorrow and well...Not great as I’ll have to run it 1x maybe some manual changes on front ring as needed :-( -
• #3768
Balls 😞
-
• #3769
Yep! I’ll try take it somewhere next week to try get the front mech sorted.
-
• #3770
If it's any consolation I've been waiting for a warranty replacement of my rear (etap) derailleur for 2 weeks now, and my shiny new-build bike only has 104 miles of riding under its belt... it's just sat there... mocking me
-
• #3772
Imagine the mess I’d make of epoxying my cables
-
• #3773
I'm making a smaller charger. I'm pretty sure potting Di2 chargers is outside the realm of normal operation.
-
• #3774
Does anyone have a broken Etap front mech they either want to sell or sell a part from?
Or best site for spare parts -
• #3775
You've probably seen, but in case not check eyebrows sale thread. He has one...
Given I don't charge this stuff in the rain, would shrink wrap or electrical tape around it all not be enough protection? It's not like I'm going to be hanging this thing out from the dynamo full time, it only comes out when I need to charge. (yes I'm just trying to find a way to avoid messing with sticky chemicals)
