Turned on R4 looking for some news at about 8.30, and got this stream of sycophantic guff about Humphreys. Had to turn the radio off. They already did a program about him last time he left, didn't they? As well as all the other programmes that wren't about him, but which he used as a vehicle for his ego. Sick of the man. Sadly don't think this is the last we'll hear of him though

John Humphreys, centerist granddaddy. Note how the people who came on to praise him included Cameron and Blair, who are now both regarded as massive wallies that fucked everything up. I’m glad he’s fucking off, it’s a shame he didn’t do it ten years ago - or even more.

I’d never have pegged him as a centrist- he’s straight up right wing I thought, given his unswervingly supportive work for the government and Brexit.

Especially all the commenters getting in a tis about Neil's "liberal" bias. Altho TBF whatever his views on unions are, I doubt Neil is in favour of jailing women who have abortions.

It was immensely frustrating to hear him constantly interrupting any attempt at subtlety or context-setting from the interviewee with a demand for a yes/no answer. In a lot of his interviews the guest was probably speaking for only about 20% of the total time.

Heard he was due to retire around May, then June, then he was still there. Just have to wait and see which of the presenters takes on his style.
