I’m a big Panerai fanboi
It’s been work trips to Milan and a trip this year to Rome which really tipped me over the edge. Some seriously cool Italian guys rocking them

I can look after you on Omega NATO if you want one or indeed omega leather deployant straps.
That's a lovely watch , came close to getting one myself at one point. -

Keep or sell?

Keep.

Do you have to be a chunky boi for a Panerai to make sense?
-
• #37957
Nah. Some of them don't actually wear that big. Lug length is a big factor in whether a wide watch wears big.

Is there even a glass on there? I'd keep it.
Here's todays cheapo. Needs new bezel.

Lug length
The watch equivalent of stack and reach.

Does it make economic sense to sell?
If it's just about reducing space/collection I'd sell it.
-
• #37961
I'm not sure they ever make sense. That's part of the appeal isn't it?
-

Keep unless there's real-world reasons to get rid. It's a beaut. A strap change or leaving it off the wrist for a bit may help make up the mind?

Le sex!
I've always had a soft spot for the railmaster.

It is really your choice, but since you ask - I thought you were building quite a nice Omega collection. Why break that up to get a Rolex GMT? I thought a more interesting next step was the Ploprof.
Do you want to be someone with a rad Omega collection, or someone with a GMT, a fantastic watch, but so well known and desired that it is almost generic?

I dig it. Not diminishing my recurring desire to buy a turtle either.

Thanks, appreciate that.
I walked into the Omega shop yesterday but I saw a lot of shiny buckles which put me off a bit. I’d much rather go for brushed or PVD hardware.
The leather with a deployment clasp sounds interesting as I aim to keep the original bracelet nice and tidy.
Would you mind sending some options via DM? I’m usually a sucker for a vintage look and feel, something that matches the faux patina color wise ideally.

Happy birthday for today. Top class self-gifting as well - it's lovely.

of course.

I’m not happy with the deployant clasp on my cocktail time, the curve is wrong and it digs into my wrist. Is it possible to replace it or do I need to get a whole new strap?
-
• #37970
It was the same with the strap which came with my cocktail time. Except that it was also a horrendous patent shiny fake leather. Uncomfortable and ugly as fuck. Literally the worst strap I have ever seen or worn.
I'd just buy a normal non deployant strap tbh.

sell. the 1940 you got recently is much better looking with more strap options. plus you have the tintin for a sportier look.
usually when somebody asks keep or sell its because they want to sell. its just a watch. i say sell..
Cheers, it wasn’t on the radar really but after seeing it in real life and trying it on I sort of fell for it. Managed to get it for a good price, including box and papers.
Now the hunt for a decent 21mm leather and nato strap begins.
