  • Nice one - thanks

  • Do you mind sharing how much you paid? Would be interested to compare side by side with a modern one also.

Sure thing, it was about £70. I'm sure that you can pick one up a fair bit cheaper though.

  • Anyone recommend a good tool for removing bracelet pins? The old block, hammer and punch technique doesn’t thrill me, are the screw type below decent?

  • I just use a loupe, a Bergeon 3153 and a steady hand

  • I didn’t know they budge so easily, I’ll give it a prod this afternoon, thanks.

  • Seiko? Should be nice and easy to do without a press, as long as you don't ping a collar somewhere!

  • Yeah look out for the tiny little collars Seiko use. It’s not just a split pin.

I have a block and screw pin one, works great in theory, in practice it’s pretty cheap and doesn’t hold things well enough. Have bent one of the screw pin tool things, ended up using the block to place the bracelet vertically and pressing the pins out / in manually. Requires a bit of a tap from something at certain points but isn’t too difficult. Not sure I’d risk it on anything fancy though.

  • Long shit but anyone know what model this is please? Don't think it's got any real monetary value (don't care about that) but my grandad got it in 97 from work and hasn't worn it really. It's quartz too and about 34mm

  • Long shit but

    I see

  • Lol...this... Made me chuckle too.

    Sorry I can't help

  • Weirdly, I’m starting to warm to that Bell & Ross. Should be half the price though.

  • Na.

Only Bell & Ross that looked good was a Sinn.

    imo.

  • Meant to say long shot - autocorrect @Howard

  • Agreed - on my list is the Sinn B&R space watch or the GMT (144) ..

I’d go for the Sinn branded also but I like something about the ‘origins story’ of having a non-B&R B&R

  • Those were cool.

I like the BR V2-93 GMT in pictures but I’ve gone and checked it out twice and been disappointed by it IRL.

  • It looks huge

  • That is partly my issue, yeah. It’s 41mm. They don’t look that big in the case but on the wrist it didn’t sit right.

My other problem with it is some of the finishing does not look as good IRL as it does in photos. Somehow it just doesn’t hang together. Whereas e.g. I find Black Bays look a lot better IRL than in pics.

  • Also agree on Black Bays just looking ‘right’

I’d be hugely interested in the GMT black bay if there were different bezel options.. the Pepsi looks to be trying even harder to pass as a Rolex .

  • Well Tudor have a free pass when it comes to looking like a Rolex, since their whole raison d’etre is “a Rolex, with a cheaper movement”.

BBs are just a bit thick and slab sided to suit me (plus my issues with Arial on the dial). A GMT in the BB58 case would be world-beating.

  • Straton Watches are dropping a GMT (but I don't really like GMTs)

  • holy chapter ring batman

  • It’s like a sinkhole

  • Friday watches pls btw

  • Ok, I’ll start, since it’s ten past ten.

  • I’m still very much in love with my Smiths Astral

Especially with the addition of the expandable bracelet
