Doesn't look too bad, I have seen far worse (set by "professional mechanics" too). The recommended gap is approx 2mm I believe, my money would be on cable tension. Is the inner limit set correctly? Chain on small ring at front, large sprocket at back and chain just clearing front mech inner plate. Set this limit with the cable not connected, then go from there.

Good looks - I’ll give this a shot. A friend at a shop set everything up, as I don’t know all that much about cabling a bike, but I’d definitely like to learn.

You might also want to check if it's defintely parallel to the chainring. If it wasn't secured tightly enough to the braze on it could have moved under shifting pressure.

You can get these if you are struggling to get it aligned https://www.amazon.co.uk/Campagnolo-Componentry-Front-Alignment-UT-FD120/dp/B012DUZVGM

^While looking at those on Amazon, I discovered that Park Tools do a wheel dishing tool which is 'Unisex'. Presumably this means it can be used by either male of female mechanics.
What a time to be alive!

Oh wow. That's my bike, I did have a couple of beers when I was assembling it but that's a proper fuck up, just rushed out to the garage to fix that.
Thanks for noticing!

88 or 89 Concorde Squadra, Columbus SLX. Apparently this was once a PDM team bike. Found it on eBay, but I think I saw this frame or one very similar somewhere on here not too long ago?
Awaiting saddle height adjustment. Chain on inner ring fail...

I pointed that same problem out to a random dude on a train once. He seemed happy to be told!

First geared build.
cheers to @Jingle_Jangle for frame.Probably needs a 23 on the back as clearance is non existent.
Also no space for clamp on front derailleur so had to do the old manual shift to make it up this bastard hill.

Had a classic 80's Leri frame with Campagnolo Triomphe 2x6 that was running fast. Decided to turn it into a neo-classic. Switched to Chorus 2x10 set with Veloce ergos. Added a pair of custom wheels built on Miche racing hubs. Got a steel bike that puts a big grin on your face when riding. It still looks classic but the chainstay is 400mm (@ 56x56 cm size) and that makes it a very entertaining bike.
