Never been to one and really need to change that.
I agree about most gastro roasts being a bit lame. With the exception of the triple meat roast at the Richard I in Greenwich. It's epic.

+1 on Toby, I think its great value and a solid roasts. Stuff paying £17 for unfilling, gravy lacking mediocrity

Toby's also do VEGAN stuff too. Or all the meats if you like that. Being able to ladle on as much veg and gravy as you want is great for under a tenner though.

Happy Cow has Govinda's as closed. I haven't been past there for ages, so don't know. The web-site for it seems to have disappeared, though.

Any recommendations for Pizza in the King's Cross area?

Happy Face and Franco Manca are both pretty good.
Happy Face is massive and more likely to have free tables.

Any recommendations around tower bridge please? Meeting a friend I haven't seen in almost 20 years. Something not touristy, and not too packed/trendy where we can have a conversation?
Thanks! -

Pizza Union is very good for the price.

Oh and it's for tonight, so something where lack of advance reservation won't be an issue...

Been wanting to try Londrino for a while. I expect it’ll be good.

Short walk to London Bridge and Padella is the best pasta I've eaten in this country. You have to queue, but can take a number and go for local drinks. Flour and Grape on Bermondsey Street is also excellent. Franco Manco also there for very good pizza. Lokma is a very serviceable Turkish place down the bottom of Bermondsey Street...

I had lunch at Lyle's not so long ago. It was mega. They have opened a sister restaurant called Flor in Borough Market and it also looks banging:

El pastor is also tasty. Not sure about volume levels?

I like this place and I am not suggesting it because you are French: https://cassecroute.co.uk/menu-du-jour
Also 40 Maltby

Padella is a good call and you can now queue on an app called 'walkin', you don't need to go to the restaurant as long as you are roughly in the area. Queue time was two hours last week when I went.

Thanks @dbr @owl @Brain-Stew @Tenderloin @andyfallsoff and @amey for the quick recommendations!
I've actually been to casse-croute a couple of years ago, was nice but mad crowded... They let us leave our Bromptons at the back which was nice of them... -

2 hours for pasta? GTFOH
That's insane -
• #1097
I know, crazy, it's not that good, but if you're at the Tate or local pub, the wait doesn't really matter.
