270,000 miles on the same suspension would be possible in the US
As a merican i always find these sort of "in the US" generalized comments funny. It's a fairly large place. Almost 4 million square miles in fact. We have lots of different types of roads. In fact, in my state, most of the roads are gravel. You can get there you need to and avoid them, but the quicker route is frequently over gravel.
In my experience, in any of the major cities you've got about as much chance driving 270,000 miles on the same suspension as you have of walking it! :)
