Has anyone been to/lived in Bordeaux in winter?
Wondering what stuff will be open over new year.
cheers.

10 speed rear mech will work with 11 speed won't it? it's "dumb" and just gets told where to go by the tension.
-
• #98605
£47 by the look of it, I guess that's how much you'll be paying for new, blame brexit.
-
• #98606
I'm dumb and gets told where to go by the tension. 7 8,9,10 speed mtb is too. I don't think 10 & 11 are supposed to work together either but pull ratios are close so almost do, but you'll definitely be better off getting the 11 speed.

We were thinking Ikea carcasses with Plykea fronts and worktops as the carcasses have felt 'much of a muchness' but the doors on everything we have seen so far have all felt a bit of a let down.
Good to know about the lack of service void. There is currently no plumbing in the room which the kitchen is going in and we are hopefully raising the base units higher than normal which will mean there's some extra space under the units for routing pipes ect.

What's the cheapest, serviceable, 32 hole, QR, centre lock disc hub that'll take an 11 speed cassette? Something no nonsense I guess. Willing to go second hand and spend some time on ebay if needed.

I'm not a driver and need to rent a van for a few hours/day tomorrow (got a couple of mates who can drive, so that's not a problem. Just explaining my ignorance). What's the best (read: cheapest) option? Ideally pick up somewhere in North/East London.

If you're getting new worktops then you can also get them slightly deeper and just bring the Ikea cabinets out from the wall by 5cm. Fitter didn't seem to complain too much.

"Mech hangers are a wear and tear item and as such, will need to be replaced from time to time."
Since when?!
-
• #98615
Since alloy frames with replaceable mech hangers, usefully individually sculpted for every single manufacturer and model.
A bit like the agreed standardisation of all bottom brackets, with no planned obsolescence whatsoever....

Do you have everything packed? Is it drop off and single pick up?
Anyvan will get you a rate for someone to do your work?
Or do you need a van and want to do it yourself?
Zip van? -
• #98617
Packing now. SO MUCH FUN.
Anyvan's quote was pretty nuts. The idea was van it ourselves. I think zip van is the answer. Mate has a membership so I'll just pay him the monies.
(thanks for the suggestions!)

Since when?!
Since whenever who wrote that bullshit came up with it. Replaceable hangers are a sacrificial item, but correctly designed, installed and used they should last as long as the frame as long as you don't whack them.
-
• #98622
They tear as they wear, if the wear is bending them, but they don't just degrade through normal use like chains, tyres or cycling buttplugs.

Hope Stainless Steel Bottom Brackets
I was gifted a used one these that has quickly developed a creak. Is it worth swapping out the proprietary bearings or is the design (no shim between 24mm axle and bearing) prone to creaking?

i found it via a story on my French friends Instagram
That’s really cool!
Yes super time consuming.
Hopefully whoever runs it maintains it properly.
Google chrome translates the page so it’s quite easy to visit the site and check stuff out. -

The others don't have any kind of supportive spacer/shim either, it's just a protective cover jobby.
11 speed SLX?
