My stash of Voyager Hypers has finally run out. Is the Marathon Supreme the closest replacement?
700 x 35c, folding, some puncture protection, light-ish.

Gorilla works fine, Stan's race would clog all holes too. If you patch inside make sure the patching is well glued, sealant would try to run underside at pressure

Conti have a new tyre that looks promising, GP Urban?
-
• #6555
Yes

If only they'd make it tubeless compatible. Looks decent though.

hows the puncture protection on maxxis DTH?
-
• #6558
Held up ok in 451 size, though they tend to pick up and throw bits of road schmutz about.

I might order now again GKs but plus variant, because I do not find any not so heavy slick-like tubeless tyre in 700 x ~40c size. Or is there anything new? Also which isn’t that expensive (like a René tyre - and in black only superlight variant available). Basically the GK plus fits for my needs, but I am also open to a totally different setup.
My GKs still run with milk, 1.5 years old, lots of scratches, but the holy milk does its job. So they may be OK a while.

So, after almost 3 years my "beloved" Gatorskins 28mm are close to gone. No punctures during the years, which Im well happy with.
How ever they ride quite uninspiring compared to my Vittoria Corsa Control G+ 28mm on the road bike.
Before ordering a new set, are there any other options to Gatorskins but with a bit nicer ride quality? -

GP4?

Or Conti 4 Seasons, somewhere between GP4000s and Gatorskins.

I got a decent price on the Gp4s (33 euros) thus the recommendation.

At what point is a rim too wide for a tyre? I'm running one wheelset on my gravel/winter road bike so I'm changing between 35mm tyres and skinnier road tyres. The rim is 22mm internal - am I pushing my luck using a 25mm tyre with this rim? I've used 28mm tyres on these rims but they size up closer to 31mm which is huge.

Haven't they just renamed the Exposure larger sizes? Previously Byway was 650b and Exposure was 700c, now they seem to be changing so that Exposure is semi slick and Byway has tread. Or am I mis-remembering?

I rode road tires on 23mm inner width rims for a while. It really opened up the tires a lot.
Quite the gain in comfort (the pressure needed was much lower), but a 25mm might be pushing it.
I think it really depends on the tire construction. I went down two times because once on the angle, I reached the end of the thread - lost all grip in a instant. It happened with Panaracer Race A (which don't have a very large thread).
At the moment, I'm killing an old Schwalbe Ultremo at the rear, and there seem to be enough compound on the side to prevent the problem.Tires manufacturers are often quite conservative in their recommandation - and there is a reason for that I suppose ;-)

Nah the exposure only goes to 34mm and the smaller sizes are slick.
-
• #6571
I remember reading the rule of thumb is 50-65% of internal width vs tyre width. So for a 22mm that would mean a 34c-44c. However, the Enve rim copies I am running are 21mm internal but designed specifically for a 25mm tyre (and with a 27mm external width).
Personally I wouldn't go below a 28, other than a tyre you know is going to balloon like the old gp4k

That's what I'm saying, the exposure 34mm is now slick aswell, and the 34mm 700c Byway looks very similar to what the old Exposure 34mm was.

I'm running 25mm Conti GP5000TLs on Light Bicycle 21mm internal rims. Not dead yet, and to my eyes they fit rather well.

Anyone have experience with schwalbe table tops? Thinking of them with my old 26' Rockhopper tourer conversion . Fast, puncture proof?

Exactly the same setup here.
Vernier caliper suggests the tyre is maybe 1mm narrower than the rim.
what's the best method to fix lots (5/6+) of small nicks and tears (1-2mm holes) on the sidewall of tyres (WTB riddlers)? patch with gorilla tape from the inside? see if they'd seal with sealant? buy a new tyre?
