  • Bryston 100sst integrated amp with on board DAC upgrade

Seems crazy cheap for £500. I'm very tempted at that price.

  • NAD tuner question... hopefully someone might know the answer.

I just bought a 4155 tuner ..I have a nice FM aerial on the roof...so got a good signal.

Bought it on eBay..seller said it was tested and working before purchase and u have not dropped it since it arrived...it cost £26.50 Inc postage so not a massive investment.

I installed the tuner and one problem...it does not tube and there no in line manual....The AM tuner is stuck on 1880 KHz and FM is stuck on 188.00 MHz and the search buttons don't do a thing...the search button is out (and tried it in too)...the seller will take it back but he thinks the tuner could be locked but does not know how to unlock it...so if anyone knows how to unlock the tuner...please let me know...save me sending it back.

    Any help will be appreciated

  • Here are images of the fascia showing buttons and dial on AM and FM

  • Good solid amp , it’s not really a sellers market , hence price , could part ex the pair of them for a bit more I suppose , but I hate the thought of a dealer making double profit

  • What digital inputs does it accept?

  • I’ll take the Bryston.

  • Sorry to be annoying, what's the simplest way to stream audio from android and apple to a receiver whith aux out? It what receiver do I need?

I have a spare raspberry pi kicking about if I can use this somehow.

  • I have a PS Audio Sprout100 here at the moment. It’s pretty damn cool for the money.

Phono stage, DAC, Bluetooth & Aux in. Sub out and a remote. It’s tiny too.

    Sounds great.

  • Some sort of Bluetooth business with the pi?

  • I scored a Triabour five shelf rack for my Cyrus kit on the eBay. Only £99 which is a brilliant price.

I have 4 Cyrus boxes and the rack was a bit taller than I would ideally have it for the location I want it.

So, my woodwork wise friend came over and we lopped the top off it, before reworking the chamfers and making it tidy.

  • I like those

  • It's so much win.

I have a wall mount concertina bracket thing for the tele. The Cyrii (twat) are going in that rack and all other boxes will be discretely on a shelf.

I have ambitions to do a full cable mgmt tidy up as well. Rat's nest begone.

Having said that, kids still off school for two more days and then the Ashes start. So, it may take a while...

  • About the least audiophile post ever....

Would anyone here be able to convert a tape to digital format? The quality will be terrible, but I mainly want the track listing and the sentimentality.

Or alternatively does anyone have a cassette Walkman I could borrow?

    Cheers.

  • Surely you mean "Where can I buy a Nakamichi Dragon in mint condition?"

  • Ha yes. After the looks of death I got over the current miniature set up.

  • In my experience you need a decent deck with a strong and stable drive. Especially when the tapes are old and played a lot. I have a 'boom box' that has a tape player and it's decent but you still get a decent amount of wow and flutter. If it's really sentimental it might be worth having it done in a pro setup. I did a few tapes at one point but it turned out that the tape player was part of the sentiment.

  • Not sure if right thread, but what's this now? Hipster hearing horns?!

  • Flare Audio are notoriously bollocks in the high end PA community.

  • Stage one complete.

Next step, cable management. And possibly an infrared reblaster.

  • Sorry I should have explained better. It's a mix tape. I mainly just want the track listing to recreate with sourced digital versions of the songs.

I just wondered if me posting / dropping off a tape to someone would be easier than sourcing a tape player then writing down the tracks.

Having a copy saved digitally would be a nice bonus. Mainly though it's just the track listing.

  • That figures in this day and age. It used to be a lot harder to recreate mix tapes but there's very little you can't get now. I won't get started on the different originals having different qualities! :)

I'm a bit busy at the moment but could probably do it for you by running it through the tape player and recording it, if it's playable you'd get enough of an idea to put together a track list. There is no way I would lend you the GF 777 though!

  • You kidding? You try get 90's electronic dance music from South Africa.

  • Yeah, that's pretty niche especially in London 2019. I know you've been on the lookout for that kind of thing for a long time, would be interesting to know how much of it was unique to SA.
