I got the previous model to that might upgrade to the 300lumen one. No issues and been dropped and rolled around in moving vehicles many times so bulb is tough.

Do you find a Jazz more exciting? The Civic was beige - until 2006. From the RAC:
The collective clonking sound at the 2005 Geneva motor show was that of a thousand journalist jaws hitting the deck when Honda pulled the wraps off the eighth generation Civic. Most hacks are a jaded bunch, singularly unimpressed by flight of fancy show cars but this was a model that looked as if it had flowed straight off a tyro designer's pen and was made metal in production ready form right in front of us. The Aston Martin V8 Vantage, The Ferrari F430 Spyder and the BMW M6 were all overshadowed by a five-door hatchback built in Swindon. That was some coup.
When it was unveiled in 2006 the new Civic looked like a fucking spaceship. And the dashboard/speedo etc. still looks like one. So much of that design has been appropriated since for more 'modern' cars but it's a design that still looks incredibly fresh for its age - we've just got very used to it because there are so many about.
They do look a LOT better with body coloured bumpers (on the type R and some type S's).

Yes. Personally I couldn't be doing with a Type R - too revvy/noisy. The smart choice would be a post-2009 Type S GT 1.8 (with the panoramic roof, cruise control, dual zone air con and body coloured bumpers).
And not in beige - Milano red.
Edit: Sorry that was meant to be in response to @Dramatic_Hammer

Must have imagined the photo of our rented modern 4x4 next to the OG, but do have a pic of it.

We had a diesel 9th gen civic for a few years, it was quite solid with a decent level of kit (although less so than our 7 years older 5-series). The driving position and noise at speed were awful though. Didn’t even have triangle exhausts.
It also felt heavy and had terrible visibility for it’s size...
Was the previous gen better? -

The forum has vetoed my other photos.

Whether it was actually 'better' I don't know (and I've never driven one) but the previous generation was definitely a lot better received. The 8th generation was criticised for being heavier than the 7th (that's just modern cars really but the engines had no more power), for having inferior rear suspension and for rear visibility with dat ass, but personally I'd be out if there were no triangle exhausts involved!

Never got around to test driving a Civic, but there is something beautifully utilitarian about a Jazz IMO. It's obvs a small budget car like a Fiesta etc. but it felt so spacious and well thought out... it's sort of the antithesis of a Fiat 500 (which I also like fwiw).
As Dammit pointed out a few pages back, as you're pretty much only ever going to be sitting in traffic listening to R4, it doesn't really matter if it's an exciting drive.

Hmm, might be one to shortlist for the impending
bangerlegitimate motorcar purchase to ferry Mrs Hammer about town. -

Just don't let her get close to a maroon Z4 driven by Mrs Bald, the Hastings version of Wacky Races for senior citizens.....

I've got a Kia Soul hire car at the moment, for a dreadful little shitbox it's actually fine - and I just got an XL 29er in the back with the front wheel off. Honestly, I'd get something like this, brand new with a five year warranty, for £not much on a lease

• #49571
Hah! I think I’ve seen you both driving it now, always in the opposite direction with no time to wave.

Nissan Cube?

You are so right, the 4x4 underpinnings were by steyr puch and it the best little car. We had one in Italy and it went everywhere off road. My dad and his mates used to use it to go mushrooming in it. 4 not so svelt adults and they were comfortable. Ultra low first and on selectable 4 wheel drive.
The MK2 we replaced it with wasn't as good and used to get stuck, no low first gear and no selectable 4x4.

Come on, a 'nice' punto and then drive till dead.
Looked at the honda Jazz and they are popular so good ones sell quick.
Additional - Thinking about it two of the girlfriends zumba friends have jazz's and both have had the cats nicked. Both from Crouch end/Muswell Hill areas and parked on the street if that makes a difference.
Aren’t they of the ‘rev the nuts off’ variety?
