Yeah that's annoying.... but you gave him a shit job to do by dumping a load of water through his ceiling! I guess lesson learned, if you are going to pay for the repairs get straight down there, take some photos, agree on the paint and treatment, book in the handyman, get the lose ends tied up. If you don't take full control you are always going to feel like you've been stiffed.
I wasn't clear initally. I have no issue paying £240, take responsibility for the issue.
The repair has only just now been carried out a year after the incident. So, a year after the incident (that i'd forgotten all about), I get a text asking if I want a receipt for the £240 for the painting (that has just finally been done). That was the first contact. No prior contact to say that he's just now 1 year after the incident going to get the work done, it'll be £240 am I still okay to pay as it's been a year. No phone call, no polite reminder.
Plus, I've got a great handyman who I'd have sent round to do the work.
No way that flies anywhere else, you'd get told to shove it.
