It's not the price per se. More the not dropping me a line first to say hey were getting it done, over a year after the damage occoured, would you be happy to pay still?
Forget to invoice someone for a year or get work done and you'll be writing that off as lost. Unless your client is really nice or you want to go to court for it.
£240 seems pretty cheap. Getting quotes for a job that small, arranging to be in when they come round, etc would have been a real ballache and I don't think I'd have bothered either. Particularly if I hadn't caused the damage.
