What would that car be in Oz?
-
• #49403
Half that
-
• #49404
Yeah, but unleash the dormant Bogan
-
• #49405
You be mad not to embrace the boganic spirit if you lived in aus. The cars are the best bit.
-
• #49406
that Holden is hideous. reminds me of a Vauxhall Vectra
-
• #49407
Half that
+shipping, +import duty, +VAT, would you still be better off sourcing from Oz and bringing one over?
I like the idea of a ute, with as large a V8 as possible.
-

Having a ute with a decent sized deck is amazingly practical for bikes. They're not that fun to drive though, apart from lighting up the rear wheels.
Interior build quality is sh*t and the ergonomics felt pretty terrible to me, at least when you're used to euro cars (everything is big and bulky). Only I experience I have is with an SS not an HSV though.

I had a brand new ss wagon as a hire car in aus about two years ago and really liked it. Truckloads better inside than the commodores I remember.

I'd quite like an E63 AMG ute, but in a shocking oversight that doesn't exist.
-
• #49411
You could just buy a super cheap AMG Wagon and chop it...
-
• #49412
That sounds like a cheap project. Had I mentioned the Hollinger gearbox potentially going into the 911?
-
• #49413
Surely the next frontier for Dammit Motors is to delve into coachbuilding though?
Bentley Continental GT Ute?
Porsche Panamera Ute?So many potential moneypits to be made!

One at a time.

• #49415
Have you seen a monaro?
-
• #49416
no I hadn't. and my life is certainly not enriched by seeing one now
My car spot of the weekend was a green mk 2 toyota celica on lordship lane. I was driving so sorry but no pic

Is anyone after a MK5 GTi? 5 door, silver, 75k miles, leather, all the gadgets.
I am going to sell my soul and buy a dadwagon.
Unless Neil sells me the big bomber c55...
-
• #49418
5 series estate? Me too.
-
• #49419
Just gotta get a bigger house first.
-
• #49420
Well I have fixed everything on the C55 so it’s no longer costing me any money (other than fuel, which I’m not going to pretend is cheap), so maybe I need to swap to something more ridiculous.
-
• #49421
Auto or manual? Anything likely to shit itself with it? I'm getting bored of looking for the 'right' pokey 3 series touring and approaching a point where I'll settle for anything a bit more modern than the charming grandadvolvo I waft around in.

Before you jump on the Passat bandwagon I should probably share that mine died on the M20 this Saturday. I had lent it to a friend so am not totally clear on details but I think it is one of clutch cylinders leaking. Apparently to replace it requires a gear box removal. Gulp.

I've had a Mondeo estate, Passat saloon and now Superb estate. First two were 2 litre diesels, Superb is 220 TSi petrol.
Mondeo was a nicer car than most people gave it credit for, it was decent to drive. I eventually killed it by driving through a flood and water got into the air intake.
The Passat was comfortable and maybe a touch more sprightly than the mondeo but the handling was vague, I found it tiring to drive on the motorway as it felt disconnected from the road.
The Superb is great. Not wholly a fair comparison as the Skoda is newer, petrol, DSG etc. But it's a great car. I would recommend if you can find one second hand but we are not over the diesel hump yet in 2nd hand market.

oops - it's the DSG.
I've kept on top of everything since i have had it - I've done the belts, brakes, tyres, air con, dsg oil, etc. only issue i have had ia a bearing and the brakes. the tyres (michelin) are about 27k old. the cam belt is due next year, the dsg oil the year after.
i absolutley love it, i really do. it is a normal golf when you want it to be and fun when you want to be a fanny. i need to consider a towing car. I'm not in a rush to sell.
If you want to have a drive, let me know.

that is on the list.
I am tossing up buying something to keep long term and something cheap to bang around in. there are some seriously unattracrtive cars available that fit the bill and are cheap.
^^So expensive, though.
