I don't know much about dynamos but I've just seen the following wheel for €40-
Ryde Sputnik rim
Shimano DH-3N80 dynamo hub
36 Sapim Leader stainless steel spokes (1 spoke needs replacing)
Pasela Panaracer PT 26x1.75 tyre

Is that a good deal? Would that do a front and rear light or just front? Are dynamos really that much better over usb rechargeable lights?

Yes and yes.

That's a solid setup for getting you about. Add a decent lighting system to the lot, and you can have a set up you can see in pitch black with.
Jumping on a bike without having to worry about lighting is, as the overused adage is, a game changer.
