Looking to covert my Disc Trucker to 1x
Its currently 10spd with a 48/36/26 Triple 5 bolt 110 bcd Chainset. I was thinking of swapping for a 42 front and 11-42 10spd rear cassette.
Aside from a new derailleur, cassette and narrow wide chain ring is there anything else I'd need?

Can't you just reuse the RD?
-
• #8979
Maybe a wolf tooth thingy if your chosen mech can't do 42.
-

^^Depends on mech, but probably not on a 42t cassette without a drop link of some sort to clear the cassette.

I figured for £29 this was probably an easy solution to handle a 42

What shifters do you have?
-
• #8983
10 Spd Bar end friction shifters

All sweet then.

Non indexed friction, friction right?

And get a new chain, but guessing you'll be doing that anyway.
-
• #8987
It can be run both indexed and non indexed. I currently have it non indexed.

Will I need shorter chainring bolts too? No idea what ones are suitable

Probably if the chainring doesn't come with them, short/singlespeed ones.

Cheers - Managed to order Mech, Chain, Cassette, Narrow Wide Chainring and short bolts for sub £100 so fairly pleased with that.

It's a good ADK fork that others sell at ~2x that RRP.. if it does get discounted go for it, proper bargain.
-
• #8992
That’s what I thought, already a good deal at its current price. Don’t need it for a couple months more though, so I’ll wait it out and see if there’s a bargain to be had.
-
• #8993
No sale planned that I know of, but also a reasonable chance of a general clearance as it's not seen as a core stock line.

Does this count? I'm very pleased with how this one turned out. Use it for commuting, singletrack and long gravel rides. Since picture it has flat pedals and 32t chainring. Only want a new stem for it.

Looks like they are developing the current Riverside Frame but losing the suspension fork for, I assume, carbon and more braze-ones. My daughter has Riverside 900. It's not at all bad though heavy and could have been assembled better. I am tempted by the 920, which has a Sram groupset and Mavic wheels; or I could wait..

It's a brand new frame, for the brand relaunch. To start with they'll only make 1800 of the Adventurer model, 500 of the Gravel and 5000 of the base model. Which is nothing considering they sell half a million Rockrider 340 a year.

Then I 'll wait till 2020. Didn't they do this with a previous version of the Riverside? I remember pics, about 10 years ago now, of bikes being ridden around the world, starting at and then returning to Lille .
Hmm.
