• Hi @hippy - did you get a decent payout with Leigh Day? All of the solicitors that I've contacted so far take up to 25% of the settlement apart from Leigh Day who take out some type of insurance product which means that if I win and the settlement is <£25,000 then I pay them c. £150 (if I lose then the insurance company pays them something). The cynic in me thinks that they won't fight very hard if that's all they get for their efforts. There's a real science to this...

  • I used Leigh Day via my BC membership when I was car doored. They were very professional and I’d happily use them again. The payout I received was less than they’d estimated initially, but to be honest I’d felt I’d been adequately compensated and just wanted it done.

  • Okay thanks, good to know - I think I'm going to go down the LD route. For reference, in case anyone wants to use Osbornes, (who have a tie in with LCC) they originally told me the success fee was going to be 25% but when I mentioned I was in discussion with a couple of other solicitors they called me back and said they could go down to 15% (or 10% if the opponent admits liability within 21 days) - I didn't push for this reduction at all. Anyway, I've decided to go for Leigh Day and will let you know how I get on.

  • Can I ask how long it all took, I'm currently in the same situation. I understand that it won't necessarily be the same for me but just wondering really. The last time I made a claim was through CAMS and it got a bit nasty and took 3 years.
