@sacredhart - Go for it, I'm sure you'll love it.
I'm in Newquay right now (third trip this summer) but I'm not sure when I'll be back after this one. I'd recommend Cornwall as it's been significantly easier than my first few trips to Bournemouth to catch some decent waves. Pretty sure Dorset has some good spots too though. To get started all you really need is board hire and a lesson with a local school so don't let not having people to go with stop you. Saying that I could be up for a forum trip if there's enough interest.
Funnily enough as the weather has been up and down in Newquay i've been trying my mates skateboard and have convinced myself to get one for London based "training".
