I found the Rapha randonee shorts ok for my large frame - their new commuter ones look to have a slightly more relaxed fit.
-

Yeh I wondered about Rapha but they seem to be all out of stock now! I like to think it’s too many squats but maybe there’s an element of eat less too!

in my experience, for some reason the swrve shorts have a different cut. I have no idea why. You might get better mileage out of buying the regular fit trousers and cutting them down.
Another option could be sizing up until the top block fits and then wearing an elastic belt like the restrap one (which is shockingly great).I have a friend who swears by Marks and Spencers elasticated chinos but he's built like a rake on a diet so ymmv

They're not cycling-specific, but I have some denim shorts from COS that are holding up really well.
Bought them a while back, these look equivalent https://www.cosstores.com/en_eur/men/shorts/product.rolled-up-denim-shorts-charcoal.0796150001.html

I was going to get another Torm jersey as the one I have has been so good. I noticed the Rapha core jerseys have been updated since I last bothered looking though - what’s a better use of £60?
-
• #4708
My Torm is a much better fit than my rapha core (which is short in the body and a little flappy in the sleeves). It is wool though, so not my first choice for summer

I did have an older core jersey and it was way too short in the torso for me so never actually wore it out on a ride. At 5’8 I wouldn’t say I’ve got the longest of torsos, either.

I have the old core jersey and it is very short in the torso - not too short (e.g. that it exposes my base layer at the top of my bibs) but short enough (that it doesn't hug my paunch and create a beer belly look.) bonus

Any recommendations for simple socks? Not too in to logos etc.

• #4713
+1 absolutely the best socks going

Defeet white ones are my go to. They've a small logo on them but nothing garish

Not cycling specific but I've found https://www.archiduchesse.com/en/5-socks to be consistently amazing under any circumstances.

Haven't bought from them myself, but these are pretty much what you've asked for: https://nologocycling.com/

Use code “midsummer” for 15% off as well.

Can I ask what size socks you ordered? They list them in EU sizes and seem to have 4 options (s/m/l/xl?).

Any suggestions as to where I can get a wool black cycling cap?

My decade...I was 13 in 1969.
I will happily borrow your time machine.

Found a few stockists of Walz in the UK but mostly out of stock...I will look on their website.....most sites don't stock them...and £45 posted from the USA is expensive.

Walz Caps offered me free post to the UK...so got it from them...$44.

Is tweed an option?
