I just saved that as a PDF and will print it out, says that the car has a valid MOT until May 2020 and provides the link to validate that fact, so hopefully it's ok.

Hopefully none of this is required, but better a bit of preparation now than a big fine next week.

I'm heading over next Monday week and somewhat sweating bullets as my car is still on UK plates with tax expired, apparently there's a massive backlog in the tax office in Ireland because everyone is stocking up on pre-Brexit imports... I've been waiting weeks for a statistical code so I can pay my VRT and Irish road tax.

Is it something they actively check from onboard cameras etc. or just in the event of being stopped?

Depends on the light tech you have.

Xenon lights have a flat beam pattern so don't need them. Most adaptive lights on new cars (the ones that blank out parts of the beam) don't need them or have settings to change the pattern when driving on the continent.

If you don't have either, it's mandatory.

How do you attach the wheel to the wheel carrier if it's through bolt?

I put a conventional QR through the hub, cinched that up tight and then used a toe-strap to hold the wheel to the bottom of the carrier as a bit of belt-and-braces wheel-loss prevention.

Even if you get stopped by the Gendarmes, they don't check.

On the Cayman you could just pop out the headlamp unit and flick a switch to go to LHD settings. That was with Xenons though.

What OBD2 reader and software do you have? Have you tried https://www.multiecuscan.net/

First think is always to check the connector and connection to the sensor, then depending on the sensor type, check the sensor resistance. See if there is a published resistance range.

If you are after a mad efficient car we are about to sell our polo bluemotion, its a bms engined 2009, only 120k which is very low (make a good motorway car), pretty much impossible to get it under 65mpg,normally 70-85mpg depending how much you like sitting at speed limit on a roads.

Leather, OSS, later wiper arm, bit of a rare colour, if it has AC, that money is about right. As said before, if body good, everything else is a consumable. In their 20th anniversary year from introduction.
