Hello,
Can any one help regarding me wanting to share my product with people to discuss with them. But not wanting my product to get copied?

The anniversary book is great and has notes from Bill Waterson which they can revisit when they want to read that kind of thing
I vaguely remember discovering Calvin and Hobbes as a kid. My dads uncle who lived in London died and they came from his place, I don’t really remember him. I spent hours and hours reading those books though, repeatedly, for years. I got the anniversary book years after that and still loved it even though I’d read quite a few of the strips already.

Picked this up on here a few weeks ago but power button (the rubber bit that pushes the 'actual' power button is shot/caved in. Any ideas for an easy fix.

Blob of sugru/bathroom sealer/glue gun glue

Cheers all.
Any thoughts on whether trying to remove the stain with white spirit or similar would impact on the dye taking?

As in connect the rubber prong to actual button then seal all around the top area?

The switch still works, it's just the rubber that's torn? I'd cut the remains of the rubber flap off then build up a button out of probably sugru, being careful to make sure the blob's not so big it stops the switch moving.

If the switch is knackered too then it's a job for a soldering iron, and in that case I'd replace it with one with a longer button (and the appropriate contacts/right-angle ness), something like these

I did the same thing recently and was able to dig it out easily with the small blade on my multitool. As you ask here, I imagine you've already tried this and it's harder in your case, so this post may be pointless.

I wouldn't start at the beginning. As abr says, the order doesn't matter so much. From memory, I used to think that 'There's Treasure Everywhere' is the best one.

Yep, switch fine thankfully. So cut the rubber away for better/cleaner access and contact point. One piece sugru job or perhaps a bit on the button to set overnight then another bit which will see the whole and press against (the set sugru on) the switch? Cheers

I'd probably try to do it with one piece, because I'm lazy. Be careful not to put too much in the hole, the switch doesn't move far and you don't want to block it from moving altogether. If you could find one of the silicone covers that Garmin made it might stop it falling off again sometime in the future.
The simplest option is just to stick the end of a key or something in there when you want to switch it on and off :)

Yeah, I've got both a silicon case and happy with the prod with something narrow to turn on/off it's just a case of losing any water resistance (even the silicon case isn't watertight) and completely ruining it the minute a spot of rain comes down. Still pondering but I'll certainly (try and) be careful to ensure my button pressing nudger is narrow enough so as to not slip around the actual button.
Many thanks

Ughhhh no. You could get research participants to sign an NDA or whatever, but unless you already have a patent or are applying, you can't really protect general ideas.
And I wouldn't really worry about being the first, you just need to be good.

What about not actually touching the button with sugru but just having it a few mm above given that the sealing wodge I'll fill it with will be flexible enough to press the button
Obviously the pic below is pretty advanced/technical!!

I'm not sure sugru's flexible enough for that. This guy on ebay has a ludicrously expensive but tidy 3d-printed bodge.

I fixed a similar issue with a Bryton GPS using the pin from a single speed chain. Put it in the slot, then filled around it with glue although I would do it with suguru now.

Yep; that's the one, a little prong of sorts touching ,or as near as I can get to touching, the button then sugru it in place sealing the hole at the same time.
Will let you know how I get on! -

Can BlueTooth transmitters transmit multiple things at once?
Say could I used it with a BT mouse and headphones?
cheers.
-
• #98221
In general yes, but it's complicated. A mouse and an audio device should work fine.
Wouldn't pay more than 99p for the dongle though.

I fell off my bike yesterday and got a concussion, am fine enough and on the mend but doctor reckons my annual ride to bristol then weekend of festival is a bad idea (I can see where he's coming from) and so I'm cancelling it.
I have generic travel insurance through my bank, will this be covered? There's curtailment and cancellation cover due to bodily injury within it, but I'm basically wondering if it only applies if the injury happens on trip?
-
• #98224
Glad to hear you're on the mend. Naturally the small print will be your best bet to determine level of cover and exclusions however typically (non-fault) injury/illness that precludes travel is covered IME. Possible your bank cover 'gimme' is the lowest cover but definitely worth a phone call if up to it.
