The non-road bits are gravel tracks rather than DH gnarl aren't they? If so, WTB Nano 40 front and Riddler 37 rear.
Edit: missed the 650b bit. But 40mm tyres should be fine for gravel. Anything more would be overkill.

Continental Race King
Schwalbe ThunderburtEither will be good!

Quite opposite suggestions there.
It's gravel, but I believe it's pretty large gravel at points. I'm more excited about the offroad stuff, so i'd rather sacrifice a bit of speed on road for making the offroad bits more enjoyable I think.
Anyway, the question is now irrelevant because it turns out I have some g-one bites on the way, so I am spared having to make a choice. Which will hopefully be a decent compromise. I've used g-one speed 30s on my audax bike for ages and they've (mostly) stood up to a lot of offroad stuff. -

Was gonna give a +1 for race kings, am keen for a review of the g-one bites though

Will report back in a few week's time.
Hopefully not while wrestling with flat tyres halfway up a mountain. -

I presume anything too narrow will look ridiculous plus possibly not fit on the rims
Whatever you decide on, those Stans Flow MK3 rims won't be great with narrower tyres, so go wide.
As above, Race Kings or Schwalbe Thunder Burts, but the 2.2" & 2.25" versions, so the cornering tread doesn't end up in the wrong place :-)

G-one Bites are 2.1 so reckon should be ok on those rims.
This is a lot more MTB than I originally intended for Torino-Nice. I was nearly going to do it on my audax bike with largest tyres I could cram on, but I think this should be more fun if a bit slower.
Plus I really can't complain about being lent such a nice bike.

Are my 2" race kings gonna have misplaced tread??
-
• #6510
Dunno. Are you also using 29mm internal width rims?

25 I think

Nah, be fine :-)

I did it on 700x35 tubed Hutchinson Overide (semi slick kind of things), it was mostly fine (okay, it wasn't the most confidence-inducing setup at times). I had two pinch flats and and don't think I had to walk because of terrain (though I had to because of gradient+terrain at times). We had good weather throughout though so there's that.
I think wide slicks like WTB Horizon would be an ideal compromise, or something with a light thread (and perhaps slick central section) such as GKs.

Once the little circles on a G-One Speed (in this case actually an S-One) are worn out, how much life does the tyre have left? I've got a slick section on the middle of my rear tyre after the Three Peaks Bike Race.

For those who have tyre fitting difficulties: Get some Schwalbe Levers.
Have a plethora of levers and these fit any tyre to any rim (inc. tubeless) with ease.
No more sore hands.

I've been riding bald S-Ones ages. Swapped front and rear, both bald now. A car killed my bike but I still have the tires

Cheers, good to know. Guess I'll keep them on for a while then!

Can anyone recommend me a hard wearing tubeless tire with a bias towards paved riding, Gravelkings keep puncturing on me and G-One Speeds appear poor value with fast wear, thanks

Using levers to fit tyres >>>>>>>>>>

What size?
Marathon Supreme if 35c+, IRC x-guard if 25-28c.
-
• #6522
35c+, sorry I wasn't particularly clear earlier, want a tyre that'll be able to handle dry weather offroad/gravel, but won't be overly cumbersome on tarmac. I find that I do far more riding in pursuit of gravel than actually on the stuff, so looking for something similar to a G-one speed.
-
• #6523
Marathon Supreme TLE would be fine IMO. I run these on two bikes and can't fault them.
I realise these are not seen as a desirable gravel / gnarmac tyre but they work and they don't get loads of punctures. Plus lower rolling resistance than many supposedly better tyres.

Sounds perfect will embrace my inner geography teacher and try them, do they come with tan sidewalls? Quite honestly I've also found Gravel Kings annoyingly sluggish on the road, so maybe I should be looking in this direction.

Where we getting tyres now that nextday is gone?
Looking for budget all-round 700x35-38. Marathon obvs choice but wondering if anything else to look at.
Can anyone recommend a quite wide 27.5 gravel tyre? I'm doing Torino-Nice rally next month and lacking a suitable bike I'm borrowing an Isen G.O.A.T. which currently has massive proper mtb tyres on it. Which are great offroad, but TNR is about 50% road so I need something a little more multi-purpose while not being too skinny (I presume anything too narrow will look ridiculous plus possibly not fit on the rims).
Looking at 'G-One Bites' in 2.1 (from Schwalbe's incomprehensibly large tyre range) or Gravelkings in 1.9? Or WTB Byways?
Would welcome any suggestions of things I've not thought of. I don't care about being hugely fast, but would like something that isn't too terrible on road.
