Trying to fit an XTR caliper to my inbred project. It's an IS mount, with a Superstar single speed hub
The disc seems to be too far inboard on the frame for the caliper to fit. On my regular geared MTB, the disc is 15mm inboard from the inside edge of the IS caliper mount on the frame. On this inbred, it's 20mm, and the caliper won't align with the disc.
a) what's going on? Is the hub to a different standard?
b) can I just get longer bolts and 5mm spacers, or is that asking for sheared bolts / dental bills?thanks

If you're going to move something, make it the disc rotor not the caliper. Spacers are available for this purpose, e.g. https://www.evanscycles.com/hope-6-bolts-hub-disc-spacer-EV240027

Gap can be seen here. Rough measurement of 7 or 8 mm so gonna need a lot of rotor spacers :(

Does it work with a post mount calliper and an adapter?

That interesting. Standard rear I.S. mounts are flush (0mm offset)with the inner dropout surface. Use spacers with the same thickness as the sliding dropout thing.

Might do, I quite want to use my blingy XTRs though :)
according to this https://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/inbred-sliding-drop-out-disc-question/ it does need spacers, seems a bit sketchy to me

Think I will space the disc out 2.5mm and the caliper 5mm. See you at the dentists :(

I need a M8 nut for this bolt right?

I need a M8 nut
Very likely. Check the pitch too just in case it's a weird forrin size, normal M8 ISO coarse pitch is 1.25mm. Span ten pitches with your caliper to get a decent reading in the absence of a pitch gauge. You should easily be able to eliminate 5/16-18 UNC and 5/16-24 UNF from your enquiries, which you haven't done by measuring only the diameter

Cheers.
Just having one of those evenings.
Good point on the pitch. Assumed it was corse, but I've got a pitch gauge so will double check.

Anyone got a suggestion for a decent, cheap power bank? The Anker one I have is getting a bit shit after a few year's use. It barely holds enough power to charge my phone once these days.

Get come concave spacers for v brake pads (same one used on BB7's post to IS adaptors) and use them to fill the space.

Picked up a used Surly Bill trailer on Saturday, missing one of the two bolts that goes through the + shaped part of the hitch.
Can't find anywhere stocking them online (Triton claims they're discontinued), but also can't find a generic bolt that fits the spec:
M10 x 1.0mm shoulder bolt, 55mm shoulder length (12mm dia), 70mm overall length. I've found M10 "fine" shoulder bolts with a 1.25mm "fine" pitch or even unspecified pitch, but all I can find in M10 x 1.0mm are plain screws or bolts, or threaded rod.
Thought of just sleeving an M10x1 bolt, but all I've found so far are 12mm tubes with a 1.5mm wall or brass bushings that should fit but are only about 12mm long, so I'd need 4.5 of them.
Any cheaper options than taking an M14 or M12 fine screw to a machinist and asking them to make me an M10x1 shoulder bolt? (as far as I can tell, M12 coarse threads might be cut deeper than 10mm diameter, whereas M12 fine should leave a little margin.

If you want to follow up the sleeve idea.

£12 to sleeve one bolt :-/ Need to find somewhere that'd sell me an offcut.

£12 to sleeve one bolt :-/
That's a lot less than any alternative which requires the firing up of a lathe. Shoulder bolts are always expensive, so even if you found an OTP one in the required spec, you'd be looking at £5+ each in stainless.
Also, a new Bill with hitch is about a grand, so £12 or even £50 for a custom machined shoulder bolt is chump change, surly? -

I like Xiaomi power banks, if you have USB-c on your phone get one with a USB-c output
SLX or XT if you can push it.
