Campagnolo changed from globe to shield logo in 1983. At that time also a black and white colored hood became available. Brown hoods with globe logo would be correct for 79-81 Nuovo Record levers.

reanimation, sorry: the numeration of the EMC framework is (contrary to appearances) logical - at the beginning they did not have any serial numbers (several dozens of them were built - only frames "suspected" by Ugo de Rosa), then serial numbers without a letter were introduced (exception: designation V, found on unusual frames, for example for 8-year-old Axel or show-offs). Total "no letter" frames were built ~ 1000. Since 1981, the letter designations of the series have been introduced - the first is E. Your frame is 515 copies built in EMC, probably after TdF 1980. You created a masterpiece, unfortunately the stickers absolutely do not match 1980 :(

wc stripes should have the inscription: MEXICO 49.431 km; EM logo should be without white background

I've looked on lots of reproduction decals and cannot find this decal.
Thanks for the confirmation on the frame serial numbers - Where did you find this information? , How do you know this information?
The reason I ask is that there is very little information recorded on the Internet about these early Merckx cycles -

The inscription Mexico and numbers disappeared from the bars in 1985 (~ Z3500). All my knowledge about EMC comes from the Internet, books, magazines, etc., I do not have access to "secret data". And I do not use cadre.org - the number of errors and inaccuracies contained there is overwhelming. Stickers: bicals (Serbia) or Cyclomondo (Australia) - currently on eBay.

Excellent thanks - Not heard of bicals before http://bicals.com/home/
, will check them out. There are quite a few Merckx owners on here who will be interested in the information you are sharing.
Welcome to the forum.

Thanks - Pleased with how they turned out.
They were scuffed and rough when I bought them, But very fine wet and dry paper and metal cleaner/polish brought them back to life. -

The bike turned out great!

It looks like the panto has been painted blue at some point where as I'm sure it should be black.
The hoods are wrong and will look to get remoulds.
The frame is somewhere around 79'-81' from research.
Would that make the hood logo the globe/world as opposed to the shield ?
