  • Came across this on e-bay while looking for bike parts. I have one, and it's lovely.

The vendor is also selling a Dark Side of the Moon.

In fact, from the stuff he's selling, it almost looks like he broke into my house!

  • Speedy bracelet question... I'm struggling to get a perfect fit since I recently put the bracelet on the speedy. It ultimately needs a half link and micro adjust clasp. Google says this is possible by getting a Seamaster clasp? Has anyone here done it? You can see the fit is almost right....

  • Wear it a link looser? Just so it’s that annoying little bit too loose. I believe you’ll struggle because the wrist swells and shrinks during the day and per season, so you’ll forever have it a bit tight or a bit loose.

I rediscovered that issue with the flags when I put it on yesterday. Apparently I needed a whole extra link compared to when I last wore it in the winter.

    Suppose microadjust is the future.

  • Nothing to do with the tightness / looseness, but I’m struggling to understand why I don’t hate the way that bracelet with the polished centre link shoulders looks in these pictures. In fact it looks kind of banging.

  • This guy has.

  • My neck of the woods. Make sure you go to Galton Blackistons fish and chip shop

  • I’m in a bit of a Tudor dilemma and thought I should ask the experts for their thoughts on Pelagos v Black Bay Blue.....

I’m in favour of the Pelagos (titanium version) but also like the Black Bay, but the Pelagos looks more likely future classic to me.

Another consideration is that I have two Steinharts with the same ETA movement as the Tudors (I think), an Ocean One Titanium which I love and an Ocean 39 via Gnomon, and am conflicted by brand value - are the Tudors worth the extra money for the same functionality? Obviously a subjective decision!

My other alternative would be to look for a vintage 60s Tudor, also an interesting prospect........

  • The original Pelagoses..ss..Pelagi? and Black Bays had ETA movements, but the current models have a Tudor in-house movement.

  • Personally, I greatly prefer the Pelagos design. It also has a really nice bracelet with a self-adjusting clasp.

  • Ta. Worth it. 😜

  • I love the blue Pelagos, shame it doesn’t love my slim wrists.

  • Many thanks @JB exactly the info I was after. I'm going to give Nicholas hacko a call (where my wife bought the watch) and see if the can order the parts based on that.

  • The polished bits really just add to it... I was sceptical until I tried the bracelet. Definitely looks "right". I've had this on a leather strap and the supplied NATO but this is my favourite combo. This is going to sound weird but it looks professional, rather than blingy....

  • Can't stand a sloppy strap. Gotta be just right.

  • I wanna agree but I have never had a strap feel just right from morning til evening.

  • No problemo. Saw it by chance on Instagram and remembered the account :-)

  • Would you think there’s a problem in using autosol rather than polywatch or an other specific product for polishing an old acrylic watch glass?

  • I’ve used Brasso, and toothpaste, to great effect.

  • Dirty deed is done... I like it a lot, it wears very small but looks huge in pictures, strange... Got 10% off and I'll get another 14% back at the airport, happy with that... New daily beater...

Not very fond of the strap, will probably chuck a a black Zulu on it...

  • Thought as much. Our tooth paste don’t have tha abrasive stuff in it, but I always have some autosol somewhere.

  • Hmm yea. I was getting the best results from fluoride/whitening toothpastes. I seem to remember an awful-tasting Arm&Hammer toothpaste worked amazing so it went in the tool box, and never ever back in my mouth. Yuck.

  • This is what happens when you have 2 pints in schiphol on a Sunday afternoon.. I’m now desperately trying to download Speed for my next flight.
