The lovely @Hulsroy extended the original steerer.
As the stem was steel I made some spacers from a 1 1/8" steel steerer I had in the garage. A rather nice 1" Ritchey WCS headset was hiding in the parts bin too. After I've tested the fit I'll paint the spacers and wipe the grease from the head tube...
