• @MisterMikkel and mine at you (or anyone else for that matter). I'll spare you long rant about Surly, but as an ex-owner myself I certainly understand @pedrito.

And my grävel beik weighs 16 kg, has 26" wheels and cable disc brakes.

Mate you're gonna love the 2020 Decathlon Riverside adventure bike (200 magazine wrote a long and very informative article on it, but it's not online unfortunately).

  • This one?
Canti studs look a bit naff and non-compact bars are not for me.
Having never ridden a bike competetively I'm not that concerned with weight.

I can't totally understand buyer's remorse and why not all people will want a Surly.
I was just trying to make the point that there's a reason they cost more money.

  • Sorry very late reply, but no, not this one. The French mag 200 did a long article on Decathlon relaunching the Riverside brand in 2020 with a affordable touring bike ready for an around-the world trip straight from the box. They've been working on it since 2016, have a team of 10 people on the project, bought 25 bikes at full rrp from the competition for comparison, and have 150000km ridden on the several prototypes made. Basically, they have spent serious money on it -it'll be a bit of a halo product, to show that they can make a class leader, but at Décathlon prices. The big question (and the one I'm interested in) is, without brand cachet will it sell how it (probably) should?
I haven't found the article online I'm afraid, just pop to Cph and I can lend you the magazine :-)
