I didn't realise that people arriving at CPs after they've closed are effectively out of the race--able to record a finishing time at the end but not in the classification any more.
This was introduced in TCR5 / 2017. Prior to that all finishers were classified, provided they complied with rules and completed route.

rj has been stopped at a train station for an hour. Hopefully no problems and just trainspotting. Hippy's graphs now make it look like he took a 50 hour hibernate sleep, maybe from the cake and beer he's been shovelling back judging by his Twit pics?

Fiona getting quicker it seems from Strava. Due to flaterlands but still. Good going.

Always ominous the train station stop.

Track leaders have him down as scratched.

Balls.

If his race is done, he's ridden incredibly well to now.

Yeah, I'm done. Feet have 'disintegrated' for lack of a better explanation.

Björn also shared some further details on this little-known rider from Germany:
“We rode a 675km brevet together at the end of June. It had 8,000m altitude and our average was 30.3 kmh. Even towards the end she was faster than me on the hills."
Well that's impressive for sure and implicates she'll be even stronger in the Alps

Ah man, that’s sad news. Great ride though, well done.

• #1948
what a shame. chapeau!

It's the accumulated miles in the legs that will be a factor surely? All that distance, gravel etc. then you hit this terrain. She sounds fairly untested at a huge distance like this and I guess there is more pressure now to keep pace as leader.

That's crazy
rj had a pretty lengthy stop, all the top three seemed to bunch together for a while, maybe trading stories. Ben Davies recent stops are short, trying to push hard perhaps? Sam Thomas further back was making progress in catching them up and Pawel has previous of riding fixed across IPWR alongside Joseph.
