Does "Changed position" mean you tried slamming those cleats as far back as possible?
If possible, consider cutting the holes (with a chain saw file for example) so you can put the cleats back even further. You can find this file in the garden section of hardware stores next to the chain saw chains. They are the right diameter of the cleat holes and can munch up carbon good enough.
The theory is that with the cleat towards the back, the calf muscle is less stressed, therefore pulling less on the Achilles tendon.
Power to you!

I’ve been following you on Instagram and I’ve enjoyed how frequently you’ve been posting (as well as your actual posts), and you’ve got my respect for prepping and turning up.
My advice means nothing but if I’ve taken one thing from last years thread it was to take a load of time to rest before scratching. Hope your Achilles feels better soon.
My “race” is pretty much over. My Achilles really flared up yesterday. I nearly scratched on the parcours by not going up the second climb bit. Iced and tried to sleep as much as possible, a crazy wedding party did t help half of that. Changed position a little this morning, targeting only 200 for the day, let’s see how that goes. It seems it’s a case of can I finish now.
