Those Sonder bikes do look decent, their store in Hathersage is good. They also do test rides for something like £50 weekend with postage which seems good.

For a 42t max rear cog, what length cage do I need? Short or medium or god forbid long?

Is there any way to actually know? Bike is an OG Cotic Solaris. I can get a good deal on a short cage but not sure it’ll work.

Short is working fine for me. Just on the limit of the mech capacity

If they are anything like Apex then short. If it's on the limit just get one of those £2 goat link clones of ebay.

Order just gone in for a racing green solaris max in 29er flavour with orange hope hubs, orange hope headset and orange hope seatclamp, upgrade to xfusion rl2 roughcut forks and xfusion dropper.

I toyed briefly with orange hope brakes and orange hope stem, but I'll wait til I'm sure a 35mm stem is ok before dropping £55 on a fancy one.

Stock expected end of August. Cannot wait!

Hi pal, I pm’d you, the local one was the I mount sort that fixes to the lever not the bars.

In other mtb standards news my headset has old style bearings so needs a different crown race to fit new fork- cant get the old style anywhere- so now needs a new bottom of the headset which didn’t fit as there’s 55 or 56mm semi integrated cups... slowly going grey. On the upside the local bike mechanic works at home and has rabbits which my kids enjoy

whooo looks so good for a trail+bikepacking capable bike. Only gripe is no stealth dropper routing. Maybe I should upgrade from OnOne Deedar...
