I chatted to a policeman at a bike training course a while back, and he claimed that the bulk of stolen bikes were stripped and sold as parts. I wondered if, like with a bicycle, the total value of a motorbike's parts are more than its value complete.
In which case that would be a double win.
That said bikes tend to suffer more damage than cars. But then again Defenders probably require a constant supply of parts to keep them running. So maybe it balances out.
The parts being sold on in the UK not sold off else where. Easy trade as how can you identify parts, such as a swing arm, wheels fairings coming from a specific bike. The purchasers all are about cheap and not where the parts came from.
