  • Hah! šŸ‘

  • To be fair it is fish and chips we're talking about here - a few extra carcinogens is a drop in the ocean.

Anyway - if we're talking favourite Brexit excuses.... Mine is lady paramedic (told to me as I lay in the back of her ambulance) who said she voted for Brexit because they (Europeans presumably) let all them Muslims build mosques here (her words). She also used the banana one so she had a pretty solid Brexit Excuse Bingo card.

I'd just been run over so wasn't really in the mood to question her grip on reality - tbh I was just thankful she wasn't driving but if I'd hadn't been in shock I'd have mentioned that I was a Muslim (I'm not) and reported her for being a hate filled racist fruitcake.

The founder of the youth-focused pro-Brexit campaign group BeLeave has won his appeal against a Ā£20,000 fine imposed by the elections regulator.

Darren Grimes was punished by the Electoral Commission last year, after being accused of breaching spending rules during the 2016 EU Referendum.

Let's see what is going one once there are more details on this appeal.

  • I'm fairly sure I remember my Mum telling me that she remembers when they were in newsprint, while I was eating chips in the 80s. So that puts it at least in the 70s...

I remember there being a picture of some fish and chips in newsprint in my English textbook, which came out in the 70s.

  • "It's a load of shite."
    "Now available via our bookstore."

  • Oh God, I didn't even notice that they actually stock it. That's bizarre.

  • ..speaking of bizarre - saw the recent issue of the Spiegel at my bakery today -
    Germans now mocking the Brits?

  • We are officially a mockery of a country, so fair enough. We deserve everything we get.

  • Nobody can accuse them of only stocking "liberal metropolitan elite remainer books" ;)

  • Germans now mocking the Brits

... that's not exactly a new development though.

  • I suspect that the Guardian bookshop doesn't actually exist and that they just rent a book shop service from a larger distributor rather than having any stock.

I assume that the guardian just has to tick a box next to each book in the inventory that they want to offer to their readers. Might even be Amazon doing it tbh.

Edit: confirmed, they use Bertrams, the distributor owned by Aurelius Investments.

  • Yes, I know. It's probably run by Waterstone's or some operator like that. I hope it's not Amazon, but just to be safe, I don't order from the Guardian bookshop. I think I may have done it once or twice in the past.

Oh, super, not this guy :(

Unless he can talk sense into B as he doesn't like what the government is doing...though he said that some time ago, and it seems nearly everyone has a price lately.

  • Scottish tories are fucking hilarious. Having coined 'Operation Bastard' to try and keep Johnson out, and said they'd quit if he was elected leader, both Post-Truth-Ruth and David Mundane are frantically trying to keep their jobs and the prospect of getting an ermine neck warmer at some point. Spinelessness personified...

  • He's now part of a major decision making body in the EU, despite not having been elected by the wider public.

Further proof the EU is undemocratic.

  • I'm glad the Obama poster generator still works. Helps relieve some frustration in a nice, creative way...

  • Anyone want Ā£20 on Johnson calling a GE and then going into coalition with BXP?

  • Heā€™s clearly going for an early election.

  • Yep, but with his reshuffle he's alienating a very large number of his own MP's - so my theory is that he's got a source of new ones. Otherwise his actions make no sense.

  • Oh fuck. That sounds depressingly plausible actually.
