I have recently done the same—upgrade from Garmin Edge 520 to 530. The emergency alert thing is very bad and you should disable it immediately, but otherwise I’m pretty pleased. Hardware seems cheaper—buttons feel a bit wobbly for example—but battery life, useful base maps and general speed are huge wins. Interface slightly better but still a bit pony. Device is slightly larger, no big deal. Not earth shaking, but a solid improvement.
My Garmin Edge 520 has died and I'm looking at the new Edge 530. Any ops? I'm hoping it will be a big improvement, most notably because it has (correct me if I'm mistaken) decent base maps loaded out the box that saves the faff selecting under 100mb worth of map tiles on openstreetmap. Does anyone have any views on it? Obvs the Bolt is a solid choice and significantly cheaper. But for adventuring and navigation I'm thinking that the Edge has the... edge? It's been out a few months so if this has already been discussed please direct me to the thread. Ta
