I cut my back one off at the seat stays so don't need mudguard stays to mount it. Keeps my front mech and legs clean and I don't care about people drafting me!
I rotated mine slightly to go further down at the front below the bottom bracket, to keep the chain clean, and not as far down at the back.
Good idea. I could have done that, if I'd have thought of it before I cut the mudguard!
