I think they are the same, it is just the formatting of the text changes depending on editors that are used to view them.
I do not know how to remove the inbuilt POI's from the underlying map.
I used basecamp to create the track and waypoints and exported them as a single gpx file.
I removed a lot of header information from the file to cut down the info presented.

Hmm, now why does mine you look nothing like yours? What are you using to export the gpx files?
