In a tenuous chain of events I've been playing the hellboy board game lately so I picked up the omnibus editions of the comics to figure out who the fuck all the characters were and why i gave a shit about them in the game and the hellboy reboot actually feels a lot more spot on than the previous ones to the original material.
It's still a cheesy cgi-fest and hellboy's face is weird in a bad way (I thought he was played by the guy who played cheddar bob in 8-mile when I first saw him because of the squashed face, could not tell it was stranger things guy at all) but I came away more pleasantly surprised than disappointed.
Hellboy was a bit crappy, and not because it wasn't Ron Pearlman, all just a bit cheesy and too much crap cgi.
