Thanks bro. Now he just wants to service the Giant he was riding today. Some people. Sigh.

Tomorrow I’m gonna check a NOS Giant Anthem frame at the same shop that the NOS Acid came from.
To be honest today on the trails the Spesh FSR was so capable, I’m wondering whether I will notice all that much benefit from an Anthem. It would be dependent on selling the Koga Fullpro to free up space and money anyway.
Still 50/50 on selling the Acid too. Hmm.

Providing the anthem isn't wrecked, you should see a real improvement- they're v. good bikes.

Apparently new old stock, so hopefully it’s mint. I’ll find out what year and version it is tomorrow afternoon and more importantly what price. Apparently 26”, though, which is what I wanted so I can swap over all accumulated parts.

Don’t buy any more old bikes please

I’m gonna make it a habit to ride as many old and shit bikes as possible.

The Pinnacle suggested above is good. I'd also consider something from Whyte
A bit over budget, but this from Bird comes well equipped
If you're after something more XC racey, then perhaps look at Canyon or Trek?
Unless of course you don't want aluminium, in which case all these suggestions are terrible

I think the Vitus Sentier is supposed to be the best value for around a grand.

Was almost certain that link would be to a Calibre

Hive mind opinion needed. I’ve got a rigid boost Fuji I built from bits cheap that 95% of the time is fine for what I ride- bit slow on flats and draggy climbs with the big tyres, fun on easy downhills.
Stupidly I’ve entered the peaks Scott marathon in September so I’m now thinking my bike will slow me down! I’m now torn between- Get 29er boost wheels for it and thinner tyres - similar height total, faster rolling but less cushioning
- Get a sus fork for it
- Get a new rear mech, cassette and shifter so I can spin up hills more- currently got old 9 speed bits
- Stop wasting money and somehow borrow or buy a proper xc marathon bike for the day?
What we think?

Man please. All those hours riding them, you won’t get back. Good bikes feel good to ride.
Life’s too short for shit bikes dude -

Shit bike, or no bike? I’d sooner ride a 20 y/o Specialized than walk.

Nukeproof Scout Sport is a grand on the nose and very upgradeable and excellent if you're after a hardtail... available in 27.5 or 29.

Plenty of decent second hand Orange Crushs/Clockwork for a grand.
When looking for a bike make sure that the frame fork and groupset add up to the cost of the bike, as you'll probably change the contact points and the wheels will either be terrible, or boat anchors or both. If it's got a dropper - bonus.

I have to go to my mate's twins christening. I would duck out but as I am godfather, I think it would be noticed. I'll keep an eye out for future events.

Quickest forum decision ever?
I know someone off forum who has last year's model, and he loves it.
Dad’s asking the same question, one grand, but full sus.
