The DD is all about risk...... and what if?
Enjoy the ride.
It gets light quite early. -
• #156
Are you riding this year Jurek?
-
• #157
I agree somewhat but it's crazy seeing people do the ride without lights. Braver than me for sure

Nah! :(
Full of summer cold, and my commuting mileage has been verging on the non-existent, so I'm not match fit.
I'll be up at the park tho. -

Chilling in the park as we speak. 50km of Epping offroad and canal paths already today. Whoops.
If you see a Salsa Vaya and a Ted James say hi/DAS

Finally made it to the park about half an hour ago from the beach. And my mate who had 9 miles to get here is going to be another hour at least
Nap time

I had an upset stomach last night and turned around in Sible Hedingham, crawling back to London. I could sort of feel that something was wrong when going up the Lea Bridge Road, but I've felt shit at the start of rides before and then ended up having good rides, so I thought it would pass, but it didn't. It still took me a while to accept that there wasn't any point in carrying on to Dunwich. I couldn't eat much, felt I had to drink all the time, and nearly vomited every time a blast of cool air hit me going down a hill. Still managed a century, albeit not a high quality one.
Great to see @JurekB at the start, and wonderful to meet @balmain at the Fox in Finchingfield. Also good to meet @luft for the first time. Good riding with David and Sabrina (not on here) on their tandem for a while along the B184 until I ran out of juice completely.
Wildlife coming back into London was very good--what looked like a startled little muntjac deer near Moreton, dashing across the lane repeatedly in confusion before finally diving into a field, some bigger deer crossing the road near Epping, dozens of jackdaws in Epping, a lot of crows and a raven, all trying to feed on things in the carriageway. Also a lot of more frequently-seen animals, like woodpigeons, my favourite native bird, always flying up when cars approached with just a moment to spare.
I took about 3 hours for the last forty miles and got home just before 6. Hope everybody else had better rides!

Got to the start late (9.30om) and bumped into a guy I once raced in an alleycat who invited me to cruise with him and his mate for a bit, which was appreciated. Ended up losing them in Hackney (!) and was on my own from there on out.
Arrived at The cyclist 3.5 hours in, and thought to myself I should probably slow down a bit as no way I could maintain that pace (surprised I even had that pace) but didn't feel too tired and got carried away with the no traffic/nice roads so carried on....
Last 40km was torture - I have never been so unexcited to arrive at a beach in my life. Shared a taxi with a couple of riders to Ipswich and got the train home.
Need to get some advice on food because my nuts/oaty protein bars became almost impossible to eat at some point, despite keeping very well hydrated.
It's twice the distance I have ever cycled in one day though, so pretty pleased with myself. Would be nice to be on time next time to meet/chat to some people when not exhausted.

Thanks for the lovely ride to everyone we met along the way.
Decided to start at around 10pm this year to avoid waiting at the beach in the cold for too long. Worked a treat although the start was a bit lonely. Minimal cold beach time.Did it fixed (not brklss) with a roadie buddy and felt surprisingly comfortable throughout the ride. I put that down to the 2hr nap beforehand and a diet of exclusively jellybabies and half a veggie burger at sudbury.
Saw a couple of other fixed riders. Amongst them a lady repping fixed beers jersey but on gears, a guy on a vigorelli who responded to a Das with "What is this? 2008?", and a guy with calf tats on a pink surly (steamroller?) who was going wicked fast.
Naked sea dip similarly excellent. 7/7 would do again.

Just on the train back to Wimbledon from waterloo now as my bum canāt take much more punishment.
Pleasure riding with @LobsterShorts @cgg @jaeyukdapbap and @Ruserius. Much appreciated to @LobsterShorts and @jaeyukdapbap for helping me through the last final 50km. I was in a pretty bad way before we hit the lake and the subsequent romantic village hall. Amazed at how little I was on the beers, and it does remind me how good just a normal loop is rather that point A to point allthefuckingwayovethere.
Zero decent pics, apart from a couple of bemused instastories questioning my own hobbies.
Oh, and fuck you @LobsterShorts for really turning the screw in the last 10km back to the beach, definitely got some much hated pbs on that final stretch...

Had a great time on my first Dynamo. Got an early start as had no idea what to expect and heeded @OliverĀ Schickās advice to not go with a GPS route and follow the leader. Saw a good sized bunch leave at 7:30 and stuck to them out of London. Very glad to have made the reservation for food at the cyclist for a little peace of mind, again, since not knowing what to expect for stop options, but might go for a different option next year to mix it up. Had a slight worry at this halfway mark that pain was setting in and it would be a horrible second half but after I wolfed the food down at the cyclist I entered a state of zen with my body becoming one with the bike and have never felt better riding (shit fixie skidders say>>>>) Ended up with quite a few of the road crews on the back end, Iād have to mash my way up the inclines as fast as I could to maintain my momentum and theyād then pass me again on the descents. Got to Dunwich a slight before 4:30am and had a little sit and wander round before a pint then the coach. 9.5/10 a half a point is dropped for the constant sound of freewheels
