How long does it take to appoint a new ambassador? Is it a shrewd move to allow a sensible selection before Johnson becomes PM and does something stupid?

That's what I thought when I heard too. But it couldn't be that difficult for him to instruct the next foreign secretary to recommend someone else of his choosing to the post?
This is almost certainly a couple of years of stitch-up come to a head though.

What no-one seems to have questioned in all of this is the Mail’s agenda in this. The Mail, in both its forms, does nothing without some ulterior motive, so what was behind the reasoning in running the story, knowing as they did that it would cause a shitstorm.

I’d imagine the DM’s agenda is taken as read.

Yes, I read somewhere that the distribution list might be around 5 to 10 people in the first instance, so starting the process of investigating should not be too difficult (although clearly roadblocks will appear along the way)

On reflection I wonder if the person who said Johnson had thrown Darroch under a "bus" was craftily playing Johnson at his own SEO game and trying to reassociate that word with negative actions? Almost certainly not but it's a vaguely entertaining idea :)

I know I'm not pointing out anything new here but the juxtaposition of headlines with photos of good looking/rich/royal white people (/cute penguin) is quite striking.

Who are also a group that would be least affected by any of the evils the paper suggest exist.
Interesting point - The Daily Mail makes more from selling Alan Partridge style slacks than it does from the print itself.

Not that I read the story, obvs, but what the hell kind of headline is
4 out of 5 migrants aren't Syrians

But you promised! It's the only reason we have to be sympathetic!
-
• #7995
Is it cos the only reason to be mildly sympathetic to a brown person is because their homeland is fucked? So if they’re not Syrian, they’re just coming to the UK for nefarious purposes, and/or lying about being in need

are they even brown? WHO KNOWS!

Jeffrey Epstein's "hedge fund" appeared to never trade with anyone on Wall Street and no-one on Wall Street knows anyone who has ever worked there. Like Bernie Madoff.
