What no-one seems to have questioned in all of this is the Mail’s agenda in this. The Mail, in both its forms, does nothing without some ulterior motive, so what was behind the reasoning in running the story, knowing as they did that it would cause a shitstorm.

I’d imagine the DM’s agenda is taken as read.

Yes, I read somewhere that the distribution list might be around 5 to 10 people in the first instance, so starting the process of investigating should not be too difficult (although clearly roadblocks will appear along the way)

On reflection I wonder if the person who said Johnson had thrown Darroch under a "bus" was craftily playing Johnson at his own SEO game and trying to reassociate that word with negative actions? Almost certainly not but it's a vaguely entertaining idea :)
