I’ve finally got my super budget forest-botherer about ready to stop pissing around with (although I have a high roller in the post for the front. And maybe some slx brakes). I’ve ridden it a few times and it’s pretty fun. Should be more fun now it has (still very cheap) pedals that aren’t made of soap. Feel like it needs some set-up tweaks but I’m very new to non road bikes so it might take me a while to work out what to move, in which direction and how far.

@Howard I wondered if that were the case. It appears a typically Specialized-level construction, and at the same time too familiar from every street corner a piece of shit off-brand shape.

@BareNecessities quite disappointing in that regard... I would prefer a Giant Acid -esque full sus.

All things considered I have used a lot of parts from elsewhere and have a semi-functional bike. Feels weird sitting down. Would love a dropper post but would love to retain my babymaker, so I have the fear over the £40 ebay options.

Go second hand. Sub 10 kilo carbon cube with decent forks and full xt can be had for £800. Otp will have zero resale value.
