I live in Leeds. Would recommend Bundobust for Indian street food, they do a good lunch deal. Tharavadu (directly next door to Bundobust) for really good curry. Knaves kitchen or Mog's for vegan junk food (Mog's is a bit of a trek from the city centre though). Nation of Shopkeepers does a really good vegan burger and has some decent beer if you're interested in that.
Cafe 164 has some good sandwiches if you just want lunch.
I've heard really good things about JJ's Vish and Chips, as far as I can tell it's a completely vegan chip shop. I've not been yet despite it being a 10 minute walk from my house.
There's also a few interesting street food places in the market. The Vietnamese place does a decent bahn mi and Moor Cafe does good falafel. The market is worth a wander anyway, there's some interesting stuff amongst all the stalls selling out of date quavers.
Thanks very much for that - looks like 164 is near our office, so will try it for lunch. Won't have the bike with me, unfortunately, but will try one of those other options in the evening...
