+1 for the Romin 155. V comfy for my wide arse and looks great

Specialized power expert? Wide but very short

Swapped an awful quill stem adapter for a slightly less awful 'steerer extender', cut steerer, swapped stem and improvised a shim as the local bike shop didn't have any. Getting closer to convincing myself to keep the steel forks. Apologies for the junior hacksaw...

Doesn’t fit the bike I reckon. I will have one of those on the Audax machine though.
Tried one on a 5 day Bikepacking tour and it was amazeballs. Zero numbness and plenty of area to move around on.

That looks pretty good.

No way! Any updates? Well done for getting it back!

I’m about to buy new brakes for my 1995 Marin. Any suggestions?
I kind of like the looks of cantilevers over mini v’s...
I’m about to do some touring on it and want to get it in good shape.

If you want to install them quickly and not worry about it, go for v brakes.
If you want your bike to look great and are willing to spend a couple of hours setting up the brakes, then some more when you need to adjust them, get cantis.
I have both on different bikes, but I wouldn't get cantis for a touring bike.

Magura HS33s if they fit. Best rim brakes evar.

Preach!
Thanks for advice, all.
Trying to decide if Shimano br-cx50 will do the trick or if I should invest some more into Avid Shorty Ultimate. But would ideally like silver. Also not a fan of the red details on the Avids, as they will go on an orange bike.

Can't help myself.
Cheap Shimano units are the easiest to set up in my experience. -

Really sleek for an ahead conversion

BR-CX50 are grey and matte rather than silver which makes them look pretty dull on a bike. Spring tensioning screw fixing broke on mine after only 2 years of use and abuse making them useless. The also use proprietary brake pads. Wouldn’t recommend.

Thanks.

Another vote for not dimpling.

I would definitely not dimple your stays. Do the tyres actually measure 33mm on these rims?

V-brakes > cantis

You are funny AICMFP
Read about them, they look good but they seem to be prone to flats according to WW forums.
Have been looking at the Corsa G+ which seems to be essentially the same casing as the Turbo Cottons but with added protection.
BUT the 28mm Turbo Cottons are called "Hell in the north" and seems to be more resistance to flats so they might work, depending on how wide they get on the rims I have.
