From the race manual FAQ:
Can I use a Velomobile/Recumbent/Tandem?
This is a bicycle race, for what most understand as regular bicycles. We like to see people on roughly the same kind of machine, otherwise why race at all? -

Isn't "I'm not racing just code for I'm going to go as hard as I can but I'm saying this and riding a silly bike so that my feelings aren't hurt when I'm spanked by most of the field"?
There were a few guys on TransP who were racing this because they'd not got TCR entries.

I think it is code for 'I'm a selfish tosser'
Good thing is there are now more good options for people who miss out on the ballot.

Race and ethnicity are structures of population

I commented on the Brompton thread about this guy, if indeed the same person.
Seems like his challenge is to finish and that the Brompton gives him the best chance of doing this.
I'm not sure I agree with is stated reason, I have no idea why his heart rate would be lower on a Brompton or that a Brompton is easier to fix should it go wrong. What I would say is that he hasn't made much of a fuss about it and to my mind is quite different from the what appeared to be Brompton backed rider last year.

Same guy.
As you say, his reasoning doesn't make sense. If nothing else, Bromptons are not designed to take a beating on off-road tracks and are notoriously hard to fix! And his heart rate can only be lower because he is putting in less effort.
Agree, not as annoying as last year's guy, but still annoying.
Recumbents are not allowed because they do not enable competition on an equal basis. Surely the same should apply to non-diamond frame folding bikes such as Bromptons? They are hardly 'roughly the same type of machine'.

The post-TransP scabs on my arse are nicely dried out and ready for peeling.
How's everyone else feeling? :)
-

I've got hopefully the last of a cold and a knee which is being seen to by Nichola at Velophysio.
Less than ideal but what can you do. -
• #1286
was feeling fine until I read your post!

• #1287
not that I expect too many sores dotwatching from my sofa
-
• #1288
Nic often gets me rocking up after a race going "can you fix this before my next one? Please please please". Lots of broken people before this year's race. Good to know. We can all have a second finishers party at a more reasonable date :)

A pharmacist in Tibet once suggested to me that the best thing for saddle sores was tiger balm. I didn't try it, but have got some if you'd like to give it a go...?
-
• #1293
Haha Haha no.
-
• #1294
They're scabs, they'll just peel off. Dermol will just make them softer.

So what are peoples route numbers?

It heals them beautifully. They will still fall off but nicely.
Honestly it's magic stuff.
It’s just the definition of the word.
Ah I haven’t heard him talk about tandems or the such before in interviews. That’s fair enough.
