Great amplification BC.

Which PP could have got around with a subtle name change and being clear about their equal ops policy.
The real issue is that there are too many "me and my mates" clubs being created.

It just got odder...
We may yet see a Porn Peddalers Open 25 on the E2.
-

No, ignore the above.
Having looked into them a bit more, and seen their latest kit in the photos in Road CC story, then I can't say I 'd want an entrant in a race I promote wearing jerseys with the names of some of the programmes from the channel who sponsors them .

Regarding the Porn Peddlers: just consider the audience and reach of;
a cycling jersey used in a few weekday evening club TTs and cafe stops. The club name on a start sheet.
the twitter/media storm caused by policing morality(?) via cycling clubs affiliation in twothousandandfuckingnineteen!
Whether you object to the pornography industry, or consider this as a weird moral panic (more fitting of the 1980s), it’s counterproductive on any level for BC to object.
Perhaps BC should be a little more tolerant?

The problem with Porn Peddlers specifically is that clubs have safeguarding responsibilities towards our junior members. I hope(!) the PP's are all over 18 but our members aren't.
I haven't seen the names of these programmes but even if young club members just google PP's having ridden in the same race they'd probably find their Twitter account which is pretty NSFW.
(e.g. https://twitter.com/pornpedallers/status/1090749048032772096)
The practical problem as a club committee member with stuff like this is some parents wouldn't be bothered by that, some would. We have to cater for the most sensitive.

Personally I'm not a prude but photos like that don't seem very helpful in a sport as sexist as cycling.

Also, it's 2019.

Exactly, it wasn't funny any more.

I run events for kids from 8-9 upwards. Along with other NE London clubs, we are making a serious effort to widen our membership and so do something about cycle sport's diversity problem. So having a PP member enter one of our events wearing their current team strip goes against these aims
I can't see PPs as a serious club whilst they have the names of various explicit porn programmes on their jerseys.

I have brought this matter to the attention of a couple of people who should be meeting Julie Harrington (BC chief executive) next week.
If anything comes of this I'll post (unless they intruct me not to do so).
What annoys me most is that BC is paying a salary to some one who is making matters worse. How many people would have read Lady Chatterley's Lover if it hadn't been for that trial?
As to the club situation, I think it's best for forum users to join their local club, but if they want to have a separate BC registered club I suggest they abandon the existing name a rebrand themselves.
Suggested new name: Agora Road Club (agora: Greek for forum in the sense of market place)

BC’s interest in Porn Pedlars has presumably increased their profile and, hopefully enabled them to raise more money for charity. Who knows, perhaps it has made others in the adult industry interested in cycling.

Cyclists are utter wankers, so probably their target audience.

Had a fairly decent run at the HHV track league in 2016 repping lfgss.
.
It felt good to wear the lfgss flag; as someone without any formal race experience, ‘normal’ CCs felt exclusive, and un-knowable; our forum felt like the common person’s club/the outsider’s club; it suited me well, and I would do it that way again, circumstances permitting.

Agora is/was the brand name one of the largest darknet drug and weapons markets. Perhaps BC would have an issue with that :)

Just as well to consult widely before jumping in with both feet!
I've heard that General Motors spent a lot of money on a Spanish advertising campaign for the Vauxhall Nova without realising that to a Spanish speaker 'no va' can be taken to mean 'doesn't go'.
The expensive monoglot US executives would only have needed to ask the cleaning lady.

I once replied to the renewal request for licensing by telling them to go fling piss at themselves for their at the time treatment of top females and support.
Suddenly the reply was from a female. Hated them even more immediately. Fuck’em make them do the donkey work to remove.

No laws are being broken and you aren’t going to stop any kids looking at tits on the internet with this, stop pretending.
The consequence is you self marginalisation at best, pander to bigoted shaming at worst.

How so? You feel that parents will keep kids away from your club if PP are allowed to complete?
I can't see PPs as a serious club whilst they have the names of various explicit porn programmes on their jerseys.
Respectfully, all are entitled to our views but values vary. I’d hope for more reason and less judgment. Excluding people (in the interest of being more inclusive) warrants a pretty good reason.

It took a decade to write that on this phone :)

I race ‘cross under the LFGSS flag, but since I’m not in the UK I’m not currently flying it. I could easily join a club when I get back and start racing again, after all I’m gorgeous and increase the phwoar rating of any kit I slip into.

This thread is hilarious.
Fucken BC tho. What a total bunch of eejits.

I don't race, but I'm planning to give it a go at some point. This thread is making me want to join lfgss cc now :D

Well we still exist as a club for now :)
I’m not sure why tobacco, spirits and porn should be singled out as damaging the image of the uci when fossil fuels (and other dubious funding bodies) aren’t.
