ball park time?
You have a ball park? How did I miss this?!

@coldharbour we've have not had a response on email to coming over to the workshop tomorrow late afternoon / early eve to pick up paint and look at ride quality. Any chance you can let us know...?
-
• #2479
Was it to hello? Yes, we will all be there. No worries.
-
• #2480
Yeah to the hello one...
When's the latest Kat could get over to you?
-
• #2481
5ish if we want to spend some time testing stuff out would probably be best.

Isen 23 is soon to arise from behind the clothes basket in our bedroom.
Having called by Stayer, I'm thinking of pushing the boat out on some crabons.
40mm front, 50mm rear, Son 28 / DT Swiss 240. 24/24.
Is this madness / overkill / underspoke?
Yeah, probably...
-
• #2483
All of that makes perfect sense
-
• #2484
The wheelbuilder is quite confident that 24 spokes is enough on a rear wheel that deep. I am slightly nervous about that.
-
• #2486
24h rear 18h front on an LB 55mm and I'm 100kg
-
• #2487
Ah, that's good to hear. Thanks.

Naked

I've ordered most of the bits. Just mudguards and lights to go.
Anything other than PDW worth looking at for mudguards? Aiming for 30 X 700 tyres.
Lights - Edelux is obvious?
-
• #2490
Where are you putting the light? If you go PDW I would highly recommend getting an Isen guard mount for it. You get a really good angle on the beam.
I have a B&M IQ and it is fucking bright. Standlight mode is so so but jeeze can it light up a country lane
-
• #2491
That's a good question. I like the look of a fork crown (i.e. brake hole) mount as that looks very secure.
However the guard mount does sound good for position. Does it flap about at all?
-
• #2492
the guard mount will put the beam slightly forward and you'd get less wheel shadow plus frees up room for a bar bag
i like the supernova beam but thats personal, edlux is a great light
go fancy connectors .. because why not?
-
• #2493
As Yal is always behind me, I can vouch for the brightness and steady, 'no-flap' beam afforded by the Isen guard mount.
-
• #2494
Edelux II is quite porky at 167g vs the B&M IQ-X at 113g
-
• #2495
With these heavy long-distance bikes it's good to save weight where you can.
-
• #2496
I just eat a load of curry and have a massive shit, make myself lighter
-
• #2497
Nothing to do with long distance riding or bikes .. xoxo

@ChasnotRobert yeah it's not going anywhere. I have recently ridden it across off-road "fashionable" surfaces and hasn't moved. The position from fork crown to guard has made quite a difference to light coverage IMO. @Señor_Bear is also right to point out that the IQ-X isn't very heavy. I have thinner PDW and it doesn't flex the guard at all.
As you may I have guessed this is fairly new addition to my bike and I am quite pleased with the entire situation tbqh
@Ecobeard Mean! true but still mean!
-
• #2499
Mean, yes.
But untrue around upward facing hills

B&M IQ-X also seems to be about £50 cheaper than Edelux so looks like a winner.
What rear light do you have? The Son seatpost one is top of the list at the moment, although I guess that doesn't work well with a saddle bag.
Perfect.
