Why does updating the Steam client take quite as long as it does?

157mb update. Taken over 30 minutes so far and only at 70mb.

Ookla showing 150+mbps dl / 20 ul.

Steam is always slow to update - what's actually happening behind the scenes to cause this? A simultaneous install?

Never had an issue with it. I often notice Steam updating when Windows starts, but it's always done in seconds.

What's your ISP?

Virgin M350. Everything else ups and downloads in a flash. Steam always crawls along. It got there eventually but I just wondered if they throttled it to save money somehow or maybe it was doing something other than downloading that 150mb.

You need some help... It's driving me a little nuts.

I'm on an xbox one. Sell point is backward compatibility. Recently I've been trying out some of the games I shouldve when I was younger but never had the opportunity to. Some a wicked!

Issue is, I can't save... Every backwards compatible game I have to start from the start. At first I was like fine... Sure... I can treat this as another Cuphead...

But yeah...

I've googled it and all I get is if you previously had a 360 and want to save it to your new xbox one. Rather than starting fresh on an xbox one and wanting to save (your progress).

What do I have to say to my console?

In more positive Xbox news, you can get a month of Xbox game pass on PC for £1 at the moment because E3 and because it's still in beta (£3.99 a month after that while it's still in beta):

Probably because it's a beta I couldn't sign up through the app, I had to do it on xbox.com

I did the game pass on PC myself, been messing around in We Happy Few and Slay the Spire.

It will be interesting to see how it progresses, I must admit I did debate an Xbox after seeing this. I will not be doing Ubisoft etc... there's the risk this could all splinter like TV did and you end up at the same cost as before

been loving slay the spire. got within a couple of fights of the 3rd level boss is my best so far. love having to change strats depending on the draw during each run...

would add a recommendations for Islanders to for a good few hours sync at <£5

I think its division 2 bundled with world war z as I only got one code for the both but yeah I'll pm you.

thanks! after digging, it seems AMD require you to run software to validate the hardware is in the machine... guess it's to stop reselling, but a shame you can't just gift the codes some how

kirth has just let me know that it needs the card and software installed to verify it's going to me before they can be downloaded, so I don't think I can give them out. Sorry! I thought it was just a simple game download code.
